Finding a way forward with the community: qualitative inquiry in the generalized HIV epidemic in Mizoram, India.

Introduction: Mizoram, the northeastern State of India bordering Myanmar, is presently witnessing a burgeoning generalized HIV epidemic along with the highest State-level HIV prevalence among female sex workers (FSWs, 24.7%) and people who inject drugs (PWID,19.8%) in the country.

Barriers and facilitators for access and utilization of reproductive and sexual health services among Female Sex Workers in urban and rural Maharashtra, India.

Background: The public health interventions among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) have mainly addressed HIV/ STI prevention. The focus of the HIV prevention program on FSWs' Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH) has been limited, thus, rendering them at a higher risk of unintended pregnancies, delayed pregnancy detection, and utilizing unsafe abortion methods.

Methods: A multistakeholder analysis was performed to study access and use of RSH services among FSWs in urban and rural India.

Risk association of BST2 gene variants with disease progression in HIV-1 infected Indian cohort.

Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 2 (BST2) is an interferon induced host restriction factor for HIV-1 that blocks the release of nascent virions from infected T cells. We aimed to characterize BST2 gene variants in HIV-1 positive individuals in Indian cohort and study the association of these variants with disease progression in long term non progressors (LTNPs) and progressors. Archived samples of 32 LTNPs, 17 progressors, and 78 controls were screened for BST2 gene polymorphisms using Sanger's sequencing method.

Healthcare needs and programmatic gaps in transition from pediatric to adult care of vertically transmitted HIV infected adolescents in India.

Treatment transition for 'adolescents living with perinatally acquired HIV' (ALPH) from paediatric to adult care is not addressed adequately. This study explores the ALPH's health care needs and programmatic gaps in health systems for the care of ALPH in India. Forty-nine in-depth interviews were conducted with purposively selected primary and key stakeholders in India.
