Ferulic acid (FA) is a phenolic compound obtained naturally and is a versatile antioxidant identified for its potential in managing hypertension. However, its application is constrained due to its classification as a BCS Class IV moiety. To address this, we concentrated on improving its solubility and permeability by developing nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) of FA using emulsification probe sonication technique.

Antimicrobial drug resistance is a significant global health challenge, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths annually and severely impacting healthcare systems worldwide. Several reported antimicrobial compounds have a guanidine motif, as the positive charge on guanidine promotes cell lysis. Therefore, pyrrole- and indole-based allylidene hydrazine carboximidamide derivatives with guanidine motifs are proposed as antimicrobial agents that mimic cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs).

Chitosan (CHT) is a known piezoelectric biomacromolecule; however, its usage is limited due to rapid degradation in an aqueous system. Herein, we prepared CHT film via a solvent casting method and cross-linked in an alkaline solution. Sodium hydroxide facilitated deprotonation, leading to increased intramolecular hydrogen bonding and mechanical properties.

The cost of encoding a system Hamiltonian in a digital quantum computer as a linear combination of unitaries (LCU) grows with the 1-norm of the LCU expansion. The Block Invariant Symmetry Shift (BLISS) technique reduces this 1-norm by modifying the Hamiltonian action on only the undesired electron-number subspaces. Previously, BLISS required a computationally expensive nonlinear optimization that was not guaranteed to find the global minimum.

An easy-to-synthesize aggregation-induced emission (AIE) active Schiff base HNSA was obtained by condensing equimolar amount of 3-hydroxy-2-naphthohydrazide and salicylaldehyde. In pure DMSO, HNSA is non-fluorescent, but increasing the HEPES (HO, 10 mM, pH 7.4) fraction (f) ≥ 90% showed an intense green fluorescence with maximum fluorescence intensity at 515 nm.

This review explores the current understanding and recent advancements in neuroblastoma, one of the most common extracranial solid pediatric cancers, accounting for ~ 15% of childhood cancer-related mortality. The hallmarks of NBL, including angiogenesis, metastasis, apoptosis resistance, cell cycle dysregulation, drug resistance, and responses to hypoxia and ROS, underscore its complex biology. The tumor microenvironment's significance in disease progression is acknowledged in this study, along with the pivotal role of cancer stem cells in sustaining tumor growth and heterogeneity.

Integrating noble metal nanostructures, specifically silver nanoparticles, into sensor designs has proven to enhance sensor performance across key metrics, including response time, stability, and sensitivity. However, a critical gap remains in understanding the unique contributions of various synthesis parameters on these enhancements. This study addresses this gap by examining how factors such as temperature, growth time, and choice of capping agents influence nanostructure shape and size, optimizing sensor performance for diverse conditions.

A one-pot methodology for the tandem acylation and oxidative aromatization of vinylogous thioesters to 2-acyl-5-(alkyl/arylthio)phenols is presented. Initially, cyclohexane-1,3-diones were converted to vinylogous thioesters through FeCl3-mediated thioenolization. This was followed by LiTMP-mediated acylation and DDQ-mediated aromatization, which resulted in the synthesis of sulphur derived oxybenzone analogs.

NiMnZ (Z = In, Sn or Sb) undergo martensitic transformation with transformation temperature () scaling with the average valence electron per atom (/) ratio. However, the rate of increase of depends on the type of Z atom, with the slope of / curve increasing from Z = In to Z = Sb. Local structural distortions are believed to be the leading cause of martensitic transformation in these alloys.
