Interdisciplinary Centre for Innovations in Biotechnology and Neuroscience, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka.

Introduction: To further advance our understanding of Muscular Dystrophies (MDs) and Spinocerebellar Ataxias (SCAs), it is necessary to identify the biological patterns associated with disease pathology. Although progress has been made in the fields of genetics and transcriptomics, there is a need for proteomics and metabolomics studies. The present study aimed to be the first to document serum metabolic signatures of MDs (DMD, BMD, and LGMD 2A) SCAs (SCA 1-3), from a South Asian perspective.

Background: Better affordability of data plans and an increase in "budget" smartphones have resulted in an exponential rise in internet and smartphone users. The ease of access to sexually explicit material (SEM) coupled with adolescents' impulsivity makes them prone to excessive SEM exposure and may affect the development of sexuality via the perceived realism of such content. This study was done to study the influence between problematic smartphone usage (PSU) and sexuality development among late adolescent boys.

Irreversible electroporation is a promising non-thermal ablation method that has been shown to increase overall survival in locally advanced pancreatic cancer in some studies. However, higher quality studies with proper controls and randomization are required to establish its superiority when added with neoadjuvant chemotherapy over the current management of choice, which is chemotherapy alone. Further studies are required before establishment of any survival benefit in metastatic pancreatic carcinoma, and such evidence is lacking at present.

Purpose Of The Review: Accidental autoerotic death, more commonly known as "autoerotic asphyxia," is an extreme paraphilic behavior wherein individuals induce cerebral hypoxia during self-stimulated sexual activities, often by constricting the neck or obstructing respiratory passages. Data on accidental deaths caused by autoerotic play is very low because of the non-disclosure of the mode/circumstances of death or non-paralleled forensic systems in many countries. There is a high likelihood of coexisting mental disorders with such behavior.

The objective of the study was to synthesize tetrazole molecules featuring nitro groups positioned at the para and meta locations. We aimed to assess their effectiveness in inhibiting corrosion of mild steel in a 1 M HCl solution at 298 K. Tetrazoles with 2,5-disubstitution were created using [3 + 2] cycloaddition and N-alkylation techniques, with a particular emphasis on synthesizing molecules that contain nitro groups.

This work explores the enhancement of EMI shielding efficiency of polyurethane (PU) foam by loading multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNTs)-decorated hollow glass microspheres (HGMs). MWCNT was coated onto the HGM surface by a simple solution casting technique. The coated HGM particles were loaded in PU foams, resulting in an even dispersion of MWCNT in the foam struts, thereby forming an interconnected conductive network in the polymer matrix.

The insertion of β-amino acids and replacement of the amide bond with a urea bond in antimicrobial peptide sequences are promising approaches to enhance the antibacterial activity and improve proteolytic stability. Herein, we describe the synthesis, characterization, and antibacterial activity of short αβ cationic hybrid peptides LA-Orn-βAcc-PEA, ; LA-Lys-βAcc-PEA, ; and LA-Arg-βAcc-PEA, in which a C12 lipid chain is conjugated at the N terminus of peptide through urea bonds. Further, we evaluated all the peptides against both and methicillin-resistant (MRSA) and their multidrug resistant (MDR) clinical isolates.

We report the synthesis and characterization of bis(diiminate)-supported tricoordinated zinc complexes () and demonstrate the catalytic activity of one representative compound in the hydroboration of nitriles and carbodiimides using pinacolborane (HBpin). Experimental and theoretical studies were performed to elucidate the reaction mechanism. Our findings indicate that the hydroboration reaction initiates with the formation of a tricoordinated zinc hydride intermediate, followed by the subsequent attack of nitriles and carbodiimides.
