Accurate oxygen detection and measurement of its concentration is vital in biological and industrial applications, necessitating highly sensitive and reliable sensors. Optical sensors, valued for their real-time monitoring, nondestructive analysis, and exceptional sensitivity, are particularly suited for precise oxygen measurements. Here, we report a dual-emissive iridium(III) complex, IrNPh, featuring "aggregation-induced emission" (AIE) properties and used for sensitive oxygen sensing.

The cartilage possesses limited regenerative capacity, necessitating advanced approaches for its repair. This study introduces a bioink designed for cartilage tissue engineering (TE) by incorporating ionically cross-linkable alginate into the photo-cross-linkable MuMA bioink, resulting in a double cross-linked interpenetrating network (IPN) hydrogel. Additionally, hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural component of cartilage and synovial fluid, was added to enhance the scaffold's properties.

Bacterial bots are potent vehicles in cancer theranostics where bacteria are used typically as cargos for drug delivery. However, living bacteria themselves may aid in their efficiency in killing the tissues. For example, living bacteria may be functionalized with magnetic and luminescent nanoparticles along with drugs in order to achieve the targeted delivery and release of payloads that would include the bacteria.

Background Aims: The clinical translation of mesenchymal stromal cell secretome (MSC-S) has been challenging owing to a lack of appropriate methods in downstream processing. Dialysis is an age-old method of protein purification by the exchange of small molecules through a semi-permeable membrane. In this study, we investigated the potential of three forms of umbilical cord-derived MSC secretome (UC-MSC-S)-native (S), dialyzed (DS), and lyophilized (LDS)-for wound healing applications.

Bilateral anophthalmia, a clinical condition characterized by the absence of globe and ocular tissues from both the orbits, presents considerable challenges to a patient's daily routine and use of prostheses. The patient's inability to orientate custom ocular prostheses (COPs) 3-dimensionally is understandable, and they typically rely on caregivers to manage the prostheses and prevent inadvertent injury to the socket. This clinical report describes the successful integration of braille script into COPs as a solution to these challenges by improving prosthesis management, decreasing caregiver dependence, and encouraging independence.

Background: Prostate cancer treatment involves hormonal therapies that may carry cardiovascular risks, particularly for long-term use. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists, such as degarelix, may offer advantages over agonists, but comprehensive comparative cardiovascular outcomes are not well established. This study aimed to systematically review and analyze the cardiovascular safety profiles of degarelix compared to those of traditional GnRH agonists, providing critical insights for optimizing treatment strategies.

Multiple forms of cell death contribute significantly to cardiovascular pathologies, negatively impacting cardiac remodeling and leading to heart failure. While myocardial cell death has been associated with PM induced cardiotoxicity, the temporal dynamics of various cell death forms, such as apoptosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis, in relation to inflammatory processes, remain underexplored. This study examines the time-dependent onset and progression of these cell death pathways in the myocardium and their correlation with inflammation in a Wistar rat model.

Multifunctional PLA films were fabricated through the solution casting method by incorporating cardanol oil (CA) and amine-functionalized graphene (AFG). The effect of the CA, and AFG on the structural, mechanical, thermal, thermo-mechanical and antioxidant properties of PLA films were investigated. FTIR analysis of PLA-CA films showed distinct peak positions at 1590 cm corresponding to the aromatic CC bonds of CA, showing that CA is compatible with the PLA.

Introduction: Mandibular condylar fractures are among the most common facial fractures and its incidence has been rising since the past few decades. Although various approaches for management of mandibular condylar fractures have been described in literature there is a gap in the published literature when it comes to comparison of these approaches. There have only been a handful of studies which have compared use of Retromandibular Transparotid against Retromandibular anteroparotid approach in management of mandibular condylar fractures with conflicting results.

In the background of antioxidation properties of selenium (Se) in plants, the role of nano‑selenium (Se-NPs) was justified in the modulation of Capsicum fruit ripening. In our study, exogenous application of 8 mg L Se-NPs on fruits through 7 days (D) of postharvest storage regulated decay rate, water loss and fruit coat firmness. Se-NPs recovered fruit coat damages with reduction of ion leakage, lipid oxidation, and accumulation of polyamines.

Acetaminophen (APAP), one of the most frequently used antipyretic and analgesic medications, has recently grown into a persistent organic contaminant of emerging concern due to its over-the-counter and widespread use. The excessive accumulation of APAP and its derivatives in various environmental matrices is threatening human health and the ecosystem. The complexity of APAP and its intermediates augments the need for adequate innovative and sustainable strategies for the remediation of contaminated environments.

The cholinergic deficits and amyloid beta (Aβ) aggregation are the mainstream simultaneously observed pathologies during the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Deposited Aβ plaques are considered to be the primary pathological hallmarks of AD and are contemplated as promising diagnostic biomarker. Herein, a series of novel theranostic agents were designed, synthesised and evaluated against cholinesterase (ChEs) enzymes and detection of Aβ species, which are major targets for development of therapeutics for AD.
