Telencephalic hemisphere formation is a complex and precisely timed process, which begins in the chick forebrain with an invagination in the middle of the roof plate. However, the factor(s) that determine the position/site of invagination in the roof plate remain to be elucidated. In this study, we have demonstrated that as development proceeds, a region of lower thickness appears in the middle of the roof plate, which marks the position where the invagination begins.

The widespread use of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) in various products raises significant ecological concerns due to their potential toxic effects in aquatic environments. This study employed the Asian green mussel (Perna viridis) as a model to explore the molecular and ecological risks of ZnO NP exposure using transcriptomics. Mussels exposed to ZnO NPs (5, 10, and 15 mg/L) for 28 days showed significant gene expression changes in gill tissues, affecting immune response, calcium homeostasis, and cellular stress.

This research investigated the relationship between microplastic accumulation and the sediment texture in seagrass meadows across the selected coastal regions of Tuticorin. Sixteen sediment samples were collected by SCUBA divers utilizing a stainless steel grab sampler. Findings indicate significantly elevated microplastic concentrations in seagrass sediments when compared to unvegetated areas.

Climate change-induced rise in sea surface temperatures has led to an increase in the frequency and severity of coral bleaching events, ultimately leading to the deterioration of coral reefs, globally. However, the reef-building corals have an inherent capacity to acclimatize to thermal stress on pre-exposure to high temperatures by altering their endosymbiotic Symbiodiniaceae community composition towards a thermal tolerant composition. The analysis of Raman and Infrared (IR) phonons in monolayered tetragonal (Sr, Ba)HfO compounds, which exhibit D symmetry and belong to the I4/mmm phase of space group 139 with Z = 2, has been conducted using normal coordinates. The SrHfO and BaHfO compounds are the first members of the Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) series denoted as (Sr, Ba)HfO with n = 1. Nine Short-Range Force Constants (SRFC) have been included in theoretical calculations to analyze the optical phonons of SrHfO and BaHfO compounds within the I4/mmm phase.

The angular dependence of random laser (RL) generation in a commercially available rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) dye has been demonstrated using ZnO-CuO heterostructure as passive scatterers. The grass-like superstructure formed at a 1M:1M molar ratio of ZnO-CuO significantly enhances scattering, resulting in RL spikes with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of just a few nanometer and a noticeable reduction in the RL threshold. RL emission spectra were collected over an angular spread of 0-180 degrees, revealing a remarkable shift in RL emission from 566 nm to 580 nm.

In this retrospective study, we aim to gain insight into the microarchitecture of CC in a cohort of fetuses with thick and short CC (isolated or associated with mild extra-/intracranial abnormalities) as seen on ultrasound (US), by using prenatal magnetic resonance (MR) diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with fiber tractography, thereby allowing better characterization for postnatal prognosis.

Herein, novel hollow ZnO and ZnO@SnInS core-shell nanorods (NRs) with controlled shell thickness were developed via a facile synthesis approach for the efficient photocatalytic remediation of organic as well inorganic water pollutants. The introduction of SnInS shell layer coating over ZnO enhances visible light absorption, efficient exciton-mediated direct charge transfer, and reduces the band gap of ZnO@SnInS core-shell nanorods. The ZnO@SnInS core-shell nanorods show efficient solar-light driven catalytic efficiency for the disintegration of industrial dye (orange G), degradation of tetracycline, and reduction of hazardous Cr (VI) ions in aquatic systems.

Since cefixime and tellurite are known to inhibit most bacteria belonging to Enterobacterales, we found that addition of tellurite inhibited E. albertii growth in Luria Bertani broth but not in tryptic soy broth (TSB), and addition of phosphate and soy peptone enhanced E. albertii growth in TSB in presence of tellurite.
