Altering the edge sites of 2D MXenes for electrochemical dinitrogen reduction reaction (ENRR) is widely reported, whereas activation of its relatively inert basal planes is neglected. Herein, the activation and the optimization of the basal planes of TiCT (T = *F, *O, and *OH) MXenes toward enhanced ENRR to ammonia is reported. The balanced surface functionalization in TiCT regulates the ENRR kinetics by regulating the potential of zero charge (E) and the electrochemical work function ( ).

The primary obstacle in electrolyzing water is that prolonged large-current operation quickly degrades performance, making it difficult to achieve efficient and continuous hydrogen evolution at high current densities. This work prepared sulfur-doped nickel ferrite nanocomposites using the simple hydrothermal method to improve electrocatalytic green hydrogen production at high-current densities. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to analyze the crystalline structure, morphology, and chemical composition of the synthesized nanocomposites.

RNA-focused therapy and diagnostics have been making waves in molecular biology due to the advantages RNA has over DNA; for instance, the ability of RNA to target nearly any genetic component in the cell is a big step in treating disorders. Moreover, RNA-based diagnosis of diseases is only becoming increasingly popular, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought up the need for cost-effective and efficient diagnosing kits for the vast majority. RNA-based techniques also have close to no risk of genotoxicity and can efficiently target undruggable regions of the cell.

To rival commercial organic electrolytes, it is important to focus on safe, cheap aqueous electrolytes with lower salt concentration (≈5.0 m) and a wider electrochemical stable potential window (ESPW). This study reports the facile synthesis of porphyrin-based covalent organic polymers (PTZ-COP, CBZ-COP, and TPA-COP) through a one-pot aromatic electrophilic polycondensation reaction between pyrrole and monomeric aldehydes (PTZ-CHO, CBZ-CHO and TPA-CHO).

The gut microbiome, a complex ecosystem of microorganisms in the digestive tract, has emerged as a critical factor in human health, influencing metabolic, immune, and neurological functions. This review explores the connection between the gut microbiome and orthopedic health, examining how gut microbes impact bone density, joint integrity, and skeletal health. It highlights mechanisms linking gut dysbiosis to inflammation in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, suggesting microbiome modulation as a potential therapeutic strategy.

The Johnson and Johnson faulty hip implant case represents one of the most significant crises in medical device history, impacting nearly 93000 patients worldwide. In response to alarming failure rates and a global recall in August 2010, countries such as Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom quickly implemented revision surgeries and reimbursement programs to protect patient safety. In stark contrast, India's response was alarmingly delayed; defective implants continued to be sold even after the global recall.

Introduction: The development of the human gut microbiota is shaped by factors like delivery mode, infant feeding practices, maternal diet, and environmental conditions. Diet plays a pivotal role in determining the diversity and composition of the gut microbiome, which in turn impacts immune development and overall health during this critical period. The early years, which are vital for microbial shaping, highlight a gap in understanding how the shift from milk-based diets to solid foods influences gut microbiota development in infants and young children, particularly in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
