Introduction: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the most common preventable cause of mental retardation, and the two important causes of CH are thyroid dysgenesis and dyshormonogenesis. Thyroid imaging is an integral part of identifying the specific aetiology of CH. We aimed to study the aetiological profile of CH and compare the imaging findings of ultrasonography (USG) and nuclear scintigraphy.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects 14% of pregnancies globally, with a prevalence of 9-16% in India. Low-glycaemic index (GI) foods like millets may help control glycaemia in GDM. This study compared glycaemic control between GDM patients consuming millets once a day (MOD) and those receiving enhanced medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for 1 month.

Introduction: Corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH)-stimulated bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling (BIPSS) is the most accurate procedure in the differential diagnosis of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-dependent Cushing's syndrome (CS) with a sensitivity of 88-100% and a specificity of 67-100%. However, CRH is not available globally currently. We undertook this study of BIPSS using lysine vasopressin (LVP) as an agent to stimulate the release of ACTH from corticotrophs.

Introduction: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has an excellent prognosis, but few cases are treatment-resistant. To check the applicability of combined and MEK-targeted therapy, the current study correlated with the MAPK pathway activation status in a cohort of PTCs. The prognostic relevance of and the usability of immunohistochemistry (IHC) for detecting the mutation were also assessed.

Instrumentation of C2 vertebra is considered the most difficult for young neurosurgeons and trainees due to its complex anatomical structures, variety of surgical approaches and techniques, and proximity to important neurovascular structures. Key points from a surgical perspective for midline posterior approach is described in the era of neuroradiological advancements. Computed tomography angiographies (CTAs) of a total of 92 patients were evaluated with special attention to the key findings for insertion of screws for craniovertebral junction (CVJ) fixations.

Hal5 gene is involved in halo-tolerance of during high salt stress. Ethanol stress and high salt stress have similarities, as both decrease the availability of water for cells and strain the osmotic homeostasis across the cell membrane. The Hal5 over-expression strain of yeast has more ethanol tolerance, but the Hal5 null mutant strain also has more ethanol tolerance than the wild-type strain.

A cost-effective, eco-friendly, and highly efficient one-pot electrochemical process has been described for the synthesis of 4-1,3-benzoxazine and 4,5-dihydro-1,3-benzoxazepine derivatives by employing 2-aminobenzyl alcohols, 2-(2-aminophenyl)ethan-1-ol, isothiocyanate derivatives, and TBAPF as an electrolyte. The developed method is accomplished at 25 °C with a constant current of 20 mA. Utilizing a graphite anode and a platinum cathode in a dimethyl sulfoxide solvent, the devised metal-free electrochemical approach minimizes the production of waste and eliminates the need for external oxidizing agents.

Recent progress and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) techniques have enabled addressing complex biomolecular problems. AI/ML models learn the underlying distribution of data they are trained on and when exposed to new inputs, they make predictions based on patterns and relationships previously observed in the training set. Further, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can be used to accurately generate protein structure or sequence from specific selected properties.

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly used for managing gastroesophageal disorders but concerns about their potential association with increased stroke risk have emerged, especially among patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the risk of stroke associated with PPI use, stratified by the presence or absence of pre-existing CVD.
Methods: This review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines and included studies up to March 2024 from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science.

Background: The doctor-patient relationship is essential for effective patient care, yet medical education often neglects to nurture the quality such as empathy during the initial years of training. Doctor-patient relationship is one of the modules taught in first year as part of mandatory AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics, and Communication) course in the undergraduate Indian medical curriculum. Hermeneutics, a method of interpretation, can play a vital role in introducing observational and reflective thinking skills.

Background: Cannabis is the third most widely used psychoactive substance globally, and its consumption has been increasing, particularly with the growing trend of legalization for medicinal and recreational use. Recent studies have raised concerns about the potential impact of cannabis on respiratory health, specifically the risk of asthma, a significant public health concern. This systematic review aimed to consolidate research on the association between cannabis use and the risk of asthma.

Background: Substantial out-of-pocket (OOP) expenditures push a large portion of the population below the poverty line, especially those residing in rural areas having low incomes. Individuals from economically disadvantaged states in India incur higher healthcare costs for hospitalization in public health centers than do those from more developed states. Economically poorer households in states such as Bihar and Odisha face significantly higher OOP expenditures for hospitalization in public health centers than do those in economically developed states such as Tamil Nadu.

Continuum of care (CoC) in maternal health services refers to a pathway spanning from pregnancy and childbirth to post-pregnancy, covering routine antenatal care (ANC), institutional delivery (ID), and post-natal services (PNC). The current study aims to investigate the distribution, trends, dropouts, and determinants of maternal health services (ANC, ID, and PNC) utilization along the CoC pathway using NFHS-4 and NFHS-5 datasets from 2015 to 2021. The binary logistic regression examined the association between the continuum of maternal health services utilization and the predictor variables.

In general, edge computing networks are based on a distributed computing environment and hence, present some difficulties to obtain an appropriate load balancing, especially under dynamic workload and limited resources. The conventional approaches of Load balancing like Round-Robin and Threshold-based load balancing fails in scalability and flexibility issues when applied to highly variable edge environments. To solve the problem of how to achieve steady-state load balance and provide dynamic adaption to edge networks, this paper proposes a new framework that using PCA and MDP.

This study explores the impact of natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) on the structure and functionality of treebean (Parkia timoriana) seed protein, a novel approach to enhancing protein stability and functionality for sustainable bioprocessing. The research aims to evaluate the dynamic interactions between protein and choline chloride-sugar-based NADES, focusing on their effects on thermal properties, emulsification behaviour, and rheological characteristics. NADES were formulated using different sugars, and protein-NADES dispersions were analysed for their physicochemical and functional properties.
