Background: Separate studies suggest that the risks from smoking might vary between high-income (HICs), middle-income (MICs), and low-income (LICs) countries, but this has not yet been systematically examined within a single study using standardised approaches. We examined the variations in risks from smoking across different country income groups and some of their potential reasons.
Methods: We analysed data from 134 909 participants from 21 countries followed up for a median of 11·3 years in the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) cohort study; 9711 participants with myocardial infarction and 11 362 controls from 52 countries in the INTERHEART case-control study; and 11 580 participants with stroke and 11 331 controls from 32 countries in the INTERSTROKE case-control study.

This paper shows the efficacy of a novel urban categorization framework based on deep learning, and a novel categorization method customized for cities in the global south. The proposed categorization method assesses urban space broadly on two dimensions-the states of urbanization and the architectural form of the units observed. This paper shows how the sixteen sub-categories can be used by state-of-the-art deep learning modules (fully convolutional network FCN-8, U-Net, and DeepLabv3+) to categorize formal and informal urban areas in seven urban cities in the developing world-Dhaka, Nairobi, Jakarta, Guangzhou, Mumbai, Cairo, and Lima.

Objective: Remote or mobile consulting is being promoted to strengthen health systems, deliver universal health coverage and facilitate safe clinical communication during coronavirus disease 2019 and beyond. We explored whether mobile consulting is a viable option for communities with minimal resources in low- and middle-income countries.
Methods: We reviewed evidence published since 2018 about mobile consulting in low- and middle-income countries and undertook a scoping study (pre-coronavirus disease) in two rural settings (Pakistan and Tanzania) and five urban slums (Kenya, Nigeria and Bangladesh), using policy/document review, secondary analysis of survey data (from the urban sites) and thematic analysis of interviews/workshops with community members, healthcare workers, digital/telecommunications experts, mobile consulting providers, and local and national decision-makers.

Introduction: Surgical approach of aortoiliac occlusive disease (AOD) with aorto-bi-femoral graft or endarterectomy, has been the first line treatment with patency rates up to 90%. Nevertheless, this procedure has an early mortality rate of 4%. Vascular complications of aorto-bi-femoral graft have an average incidence of 5-10% and development of incisional hernia in 10% of the cases.

Background: Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) has improved the diagnosis and surgical treatment of brainstem and posterior fossa tumors. Several modalities are available for IONM such as electroencephalography, brainstem mapping (BSM), cranial nerves evoked potentials), somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP), motor evoked potentials (MEP), brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs), nerve conduction, and electromyography (EMG) signals. Though motor evoked potential (MEP) and brainstem mapping are the most common IONM modalities used for surgical management of brainstem gliomas, cranial nerve potentials can also be of great help.

The percentage of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) is comparatively low in Asia compared to other continents [11]. Few studies showed, RARC with intracorporeal urinary diversion causes less bleeding and hospital stay compared with extracorporeal urinary diversion.

Introduction And Importance: Congenital hernias occur 70% on the right side, 25% on the left side, and approximately 5% bilaterally. The finding of a congenital Amyand's hernia is of interest, especially in patients who do not present risk factors associated with connective tissue disorders, ascitic conditions, fetal developmental disorders or any condition that increases abdominal pressure.
Case Presentation: Male patient, 6 months old, was brought to the pediatric surgery department due to a visible mass in the bilateral inguinal region, which protruded with crying.

Introduction And Importance: Several neuro-ophthalmic manifestations have been reported with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. However, isolated optic neuritis was infrequently reported in humans with COVID-19. If it occurred, optic neuritis was usually a part of a demyelinating syndrome.

An academic interest group in medicine is defined as a collective that can be made up of undergraduate students, residents, and/or teachers, who share as an object of interest the advancement and growth of a specific area of medicine. It is organized to carry out extracurricular academic and research activities. It is essential to stimulate participation in these interest groups, which allow the personal and professional growth of their members, being a tool that promotes and provides better opportunities for entry as candidates for graduate studies.

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic and debilitating skin disease, whose lesions can range from inflammatory nodules to abscesses and fistulas in the armpits, groin, perineum, inframammary region. Diagnosis can be confused with a large number of clinical pictures, and although studies on hidradenitis suppurativa are not so scarce in the literature, doctors are often unaware of this disease and therefore its diagnosis is often late. Pharmacological treatment ranges from retinoids to immunosuppression and radiation therapy, and surgical treatment ranges from incision and drainage to more complete excisions and laser therapies.

Introduction And Importance: The Potter sequence is defined as a series of congenital defects related to severe oligohydramnios, associated with polycystic kidney disease, bilateral renal agenesis, pulmonary hypoplasia, obstructive uropathy and premature rupture of membrane, which compromises the life of the neonate sometime after birth. Within the evidence published so far, which is very little, no perforation of the gastrointestinal tract has been reported as a complication of this condition.
Case Presentation: Male neonate born preterm with prenatal diagnosis of pulmonary hypoplasia, polycystic renal dysplasia and severe oligohydramnios (Potter sequence), presented acute respiratory distress syndrome 10 min after birth, requiring mechanical ventilation and admission to the intensive care unit.

Introduction And Importance: The presence of foreign bodies at the colorectal level and associated complications is a problem that has become increasingly common in emergency departments. This condition carries high health costs, in addition to having high morbidity and mortality rates, due to the large number of complications such as perforation.
Case Presentation: 46-year-old male patient, who came to the emergency department of a low-level hospital with a clinical picture of approximately one day of evolution consisting of the violent introduction of a foreign body (bottle) at the anorectal level secondary to aggression in a fight, with subsequent endoluminal rupture.
