Satisfactory clinical outcomes with autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis in the treatment of grade IV chondral injuries of the knee.

Objective: The research aims to evaluate short- and medium-term outcomes of patients treated using autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) with a hyaluronic acid scaffold (Hyalofast, Anika Therapeutics, MA, USA) in grade IV chondral lesions according to the Outerbridge classification in the knee.

Methods: This is a multicentre, non-randomized, retrospective study conducted between 2017 and 2022. To determine the clinical outcome of the patients, the follow-up was done with the subjective International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, pre-surgery, and with a follow-up at 12, 24, and 32 months.

Unlabelled: Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a heterogeneous neurodegenerative disease of presenile onset. A better characterization of neurodegenerative disorders has been sought by using tools such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS), where associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and cognitive profiles could constitute predictive biomarkers for these diseases. However, in FTD, associations between genotypes and cognitive phenotypes are yet to be explored.

Ablation in Brugada Syndrome: A Review of Two Cases.

Brugada syndrome (BrS) is characterized by ventricular arrhythmias in patients without structural cardiac alteration. Some patients present repeated episodes of ventricular tachycardia. Epicardial catheter ablation makes it possible to decrease arrhythmic recurrence in these patients.

Novel Surgical Approach to Acalvaria.

Acalvaria, also known as acrania, is a rare congenital anomaly which is characterized by a complete or partial defect of the calvarium. Due to the low number of patients reported, there is no a standard for the treatment of this condition; thereby, the objective is to present a new surviving patient with acalvaria and a novel surgical approach to treat it, giving craniofacial surgeons and neurosurgeons more tools to face it. In this article, the authors present a reproducible surgical approach in patients with partial acalvaria, which consist in use the present bone as a graft to cover the defect, giving a temporal but stable coverture.

The development of large-scale omic techniques allows simultaneous analysis of all active genes in tumor cells versus normal cells, providing new ways to discover the drivers of malignant transformations.

Background: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a challenging heterogeneous disease. The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and PsA (GRAPPA) last published their respective recommendations for the management of PsA in 2015. However, these guidelines are primarily based on studies conducted in resource replete countries and may not be applicable in countries in the Americas (except Canada and USA) and Africa.

Post-Condylectomy Histopathologic Findings in Patients With a Positive Tc Methylene Diphosphonate Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomographic Diagnosis for Condylar Hyperplasia.

Purpose: To describe and correlate with age the histopathologic findings observed in a group of specimens obtained from patients who underwent high condylectomy.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 27 condylar specimens from patients with facial asymmetry, suspected condylar hyperplasia (CH), and a positive diagnosis by single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) were evaluated. Histopathologic variables measured in the mandibular condyles were thickness of fibrous, proliferative, and hyperplasic cartilage layers and total tissue thickness.

Treatment of extraarticular knee extension contracture secondary to prolonged external fixation by a modified Judet quadricepsplasty technique.

This is a retrospective study of 31 patients with the diagnosis of an extraarticular knee extension contracture who had prolonged external fixation of the femur. Functional assessment was conducted after a minimum follow-up of 1 year.
