Background: Considering the role of leukotrienes in inflammatory pathways, and owing to the anti-leukotrienes effect of montelukast, in the present clinical trial, we aimed to assess the effect of montelukast on remission maintenance in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).
Methods: In the present double-blind randomized controlled clinical trial, 222 volunteer UC patients on high-dose corticosteroid and montelukast were recruited. The patients received 10 mg of montelukast (98 patients) or placebo (124 patients) for 22 weeks.
This case report describes a 41-year-old man with a progressively enlarging, painful vegetative lesion in the perianal region, ultimately diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), through a punch biopsy. Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping was performed via preoperative lymphoscintigraphy utilizing 99mTc-Phytate. Notably, an SLN was identified in an atypical location, below the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) in the subcutaneous tissue, diverging from typical drainage patterns associated with perianal SCC.

The molecular mechanisms and causes of primary sclerosis cholangitis (PSC) post-liver transplantation are still unclear. PSC is a progressive cholestatic hepatobiliary disease that happens in about 25% of patients post-liver transplantation and requires re-- transplantation. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase (NADPH oxidase or Nox) is a family of transmembrane proteins whose main function is producing reactive oxygen species (ROS).

The scan revealed a focal uptake in the posterior abdominal wall, corresponding to a subcutaneous soft tissue lesion. Further evaluation using SPECT/CT imaging localized the lesion, which was subsequently excised and histopathologically diagnosed as an angiolipoma.

Background: The evaluation of treatment-associated errors is important in the radiotherapy process, particularly those resulting related to patient setup.
Objective: This research aimed to assess the interfractional setup errors and determine the Clinical Target Volume to Planning Target Volume (CTV to PTV) margin in patients undergoing 3-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT) for head and neck cancer by means of electronic portal imaging device.
Material And Methods: In this analytical study, 300 portal images were acquired from 50 patients undergoing 3DCRT for head and neck cancer.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a complex condition involving mechanisms that lead to brain dysfunction and nerve damage, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality globally. Affecting ~50 million people annually, TBI's impact includes a high death rate, exceeding that of heart disease and cancer. Complications arising from TBI encompass concussion, cerebral hemorrhage, tumors, encephalitis, delayed apoptosis, and necrosis.

Glioblastoma (GBM), the most aggressive and lethal primary brain tumor, demands innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Addressing this urgent need, our study focuses on developing a berberine (BBR)-loaded nanoliposome (NL) as a targeted drug delivery system to combat GBM. Synthesized using the thin film hydration method and characterized through advanced physical and spectroscopic techniques, these NLs demonstrate promising potential in enhancing BBR's therapeutic efficacy.

The present review was undertaken to clarify the potential role of the lysyl oxidase (Lox) family of enzymes in delaying graft dysfunction. Delayed graft failure is a well-known event that occurs post-transplantation period. Ischemia and trauma to the graft tissue before or during the operation procedures are likely to be the most important etiological causes of this complication.

Objectives: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the most common types of brain injuries associated with cognitive impairments. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies can provide a unique opportunity to examine brain connectivity patterns and understand the neural substrates of cognitive outcomes following traumatic injury. Therefore, this study aims to determine changes in functional connectivity patterns in patients with TBI compared to healthy individuals using two graph models, adaptive dense subgraph discovery (ADSD) and variance component.

In recent decades, researchers and clinicians have increasingly focused on glial cell function. One of the primary mechanisms influencing these functions is through extracellular vesicles (EVs), membrane-bound particles released by cells that are essential for intercellular communication. EVs can be broadly categorized into four main types based on their size, origin, and biogenesis: large EVs, small EVs (sEVs), autophagic EVs, and apoptotic bodies.
