We have designed 17 new 2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalines the chemoselective Michael reaction of 3-phenylquinoxalin-2(1)-one with acrylic acid derivatives. The ester, ethyl 3-(2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalin-1(2)-yl)propanoate, was reacted with hydroxylamine and hydrazine to produce -hydroxy-3-(2-oxo-3-phenylquinoxalin-1(2)-yl)propanamide and hydrazide, respectively. Further modifications were made through reactions with isothiocyanates and azide coupling with amines, yielding thiosemicarbazides and -alkyl derivatives.

Quinoline scaffolds are serving as the core structure for numerous antifungal, analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory drugs as well as have also been investigated for their potential antidiabetic properties. Though further exploration is required in this area as the current antidiabetic agents, such as acarbose, miglitol and voglibose, are associated with several adverse side effects. In this context, arylated tetrahydrobenzo[]quinoline-3-carbonitrile derivatives were designed and evaluated as potential antidiabetic agents.

Androgenetic alopecia is a chronic dermatological condition in which genetically predisposed individuals undergo progressive hair loss secondary to the effects of circulating androgens. It has been well documented that dihydrotestosterone binds to the androgenic receptors prevalent in the scalp, thus inducing miniaturization of the hair follicle. To date, the only FDA approved medications for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia are finasteride and minoxidil.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 7 (USP7) is implicated in many cancers including colorectal cancer in which it regulates cellular pathways such as Wnt signaling and the P53-MDM2 pathway. With the discovery of small-molecule inhibitors, USP7 has also become a promising target for cancer therapy and therefore systematically identifying USP7 deubiquitinase interaction partners and substrates has become an important goal. In this study, we selected a colorectal cancer cell model that is highly dependent on USP7 and in which USP7 knockdown significantly inhibited colorectal cancer cell viability, colony formation, and cell-cell adhesion.

Endogenous endophthalmitis is an intraocular inflammation caused by the hematogenous spread of microorganisms from distant foci. Streptococcus mitis is a low-virulence organism that inhabits the oral cavity; however, it has rarely been reported to cause endogenous endophthalmitis. In this case report, we present a 63-year-old woman with bilateral asymmetrical endogenous endophthalmitis and a severely affected right eye, with light perception vision, hypotony, and severe anterior and posterior segment inflammation.

This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and durability of bioactive glass-based dental resin infiltrants. Resin infiltrants were formulated by combining photoinitiated dimethacrylate monomers with three variations of bioactive glass: 45S5 Bioglass (RIS), boron-substituted (RIB), fluoride-substituted (RIF), and pure resins (PR), whereby TOOTH group (TH) and ICON (CN) served as commercial control groups. Teeth samples were prepared, and experimental and control infiltrants were applied on demineralized human-extracted teeth.
