Inappropriate urinary tract infection diagnosis in patients with neurogenic bladder may result from ambiguous symptoms experienced by these patients and contributes to antibiotic overuse. Characterization of patient-reported signs and symptoms may help providers more appropriately diagnose urinary tract infections. A previous study collected signs and symptoms recorded in electronic medical records of patients with neurogenic bladder due to spinal cord injury/disorder, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease with at least one urinary tract infection diagnosis between 2017-2018 at four medical centers.

This study examined the frequency of chronic traumatic encephalopathy-neuropathologic change (CTE-NC) and aging-related tau astrogliopathy (ARTAG) in community-dwelling older adults and tested the hypothesis that these tau pathologies are associated with a history of moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury (msTBI), defined as a TBI with loss of consciousness >30 minutes. We evaluated CTE-NC, ARTAG, and Alzheimer disease pathologies in 94 participants with msTBI and 94 participants without TBI matched by age, sex, education, and dementia status TBI from the Rush community-based cohorts. Six (3%) of brains showed the pathognomonic lesion of CTE-NC; only 3 of these had a history of msTBI.

: Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) has received significant media coverage as a major health concern for collision sport athletes and combat veterans. This survey study investigated neuropsychologists' perspectives of CTE. Neuropsychologists ( = 325) were contacted electronic advertisement posted to popular neuropsychology professional listservs and completed a survey regarding their perspectives of: the proposed sequelae of repeated concussions, the strength of the CTE research base, and its media coverage.

Sulfide perovskites (ABX) are under increasing investigation for use in photovoltaic, optoelectronic, dielectric, and thermoelectric devices due to their favorable band gaps, dynamical properties, environmental stability, and structural diversity. A key material parameter to optimize in such devices is the constituent materials' coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) in order to minimize thermomechanical stress during fabrication and operation. This can be done by avoiding materials that have large CTE mismatch or by compensating positive thermal expansion by including materials with negative thermal expansion (NTE).

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathological subtypes (limbic predominant [lpAD], hippocampal sparing [HpSpAD], and typical [tAD]), defined by relative neurofibrillary tangle (NFT) burden in limbic and cortical regions, have not been studied in prospectively characterized epidemiological cohorts with robust cognitive assessments.

Methods: Two hundred ninety-two participants with neuropathologically confirmed AD from the Religious Orders Study and Memory and Aging Project were categorized by neuropathological subtype based on previously specified diagnostic criteria using quantitative regional NFT counts. Rates of cognitive decline were compared across subtypes using linear mixed-effects models that included subtype, time, and a subtype-time interaction as predictors and four cognitive domain factor scores (memory, executive function, language, visuospatial) and a global score as outcomes.

Aims: To describe the association between childhood traumas (death of a family member, severe illness, sexual trauma, parental separation) reported by women and men and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

Methods: In this secondary analysis of the Lower Urinary Tract Research Network Observational Cohort Study, participants completed the LUTS tool, childhood trauma events scale (CTES), PROMIS depression and anxiety and perceived stress scale. Much uncertainty exists in science and herbal products referencing turmeric (T), turmeric extract (TE), curcuminoid-enriched turmeric extract (CTE), further processed curcuminoid-enriched materials (CEM), or curcumin as a single-chemical entity. To facilitate the rational chemical and biological assessment of turmeric-derived NPs, we introduced the DESIGNER approach of Depleting and Enriching Select Ingredients to Generate Normalized Extract Resources to Curcuma longa preparations. Countercurrent separation of a commercial CTE yielded four key materials-lipophilic metabolites; purified curcumin ("purcumin"); a mixture of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin ("purcuminoids"); and hydrophilic metabolites-and enabled production of a curcuminoid-free TE ("nocumin").

Background: New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) requires by law for accidents/incidents (injury) involving career-technical-vocational education (CTE) students and staff to be reported within five business days to the NJ Safe Schools Program (NJSS) using an online surveillance system. Tauopathies are a diverse group of diseases featuring progressive dying-back neurodegeneration of specific neuronal populations in association with accumulation of abnormal forms of the microtubule-associated protein tau. It is well-established that the clinical symptoms characteristic of tauopathies correlate with deficits in synaptic function and neuritic connectivity early in the course of disease, but mechanisms underlying these critical pathogenic events are not fully understood. Biochemical evidence fueled the widespread notion that microtubule stabilization represents tau's primary biological role and that the marked atrophy of neurites observed in tauopathies results from loss of microtubule stability.
