Introduction: The Society for Pediatric Anesthesia Quality and Safety Committee developed the Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Time-Out Checklist, consisting of 14 safety items intended to be reviewed by an anesthesia team prior to a regional anesthetic. Primarily, we hypothesized that use of this Checklist would increase the number of safety items performed compared with no checklist, evaluating the usefulness of this tool. Secondarily, we hypothesized that, after checklist training, subjects would show better clinical judgment by electing to perform a regional anesthetic in scenarios in which no programmed error existed and electing to not perform a regional anesthetic in scenarios in which a programmed error did exist.

Phytoplasmas are a group of plant-pathogenic, cell-wall-less bacteria vectored primarily by leafhoppers (Hemiptera Cicadellidae), one of the most diverse families of insects. In this study, we explored the binding mechanism between tannic acid (TA) and gluten to apply TA as an ingredient in bread-making to evaluate its baking performance and starch digestion. The interaction was systematically investigated by analyzing binding affinity, binding mode, and matrix structure of the TA-gluten complex using fluorescence quenching, molecular docking, and confocal laser scanning microscopy. TA strongly interacted with gluten via non-covalent interactions, mainly hydrogen bonds, and formed the major hydrogen bonds with six different glutamines (Q32, Q108, Q313, Q317, Q317, and Q349), which play a critical role in gluten network construction among amino acid residues of gluten.
