Two-level ACDF with a zero-profile stand-alone spacer compared to conventional plating: a prospective randomized single-center study.

Purpose: Stand-alone zero-profile devices have already proven safety, and a reduced dysphagia rate was assumed. So far, no level-one evidence is available to prove the proposed advantages of zero-profile implants in multilevel procedures. The aim of this RCT was to compare the clinical and radiological outcome of a zero-profile spacer versus cage + plate in two-level ACDF.

Lateral oblique approach for internal jugular vein catheterization: Randomized comparison of oblique and short-axis view of ultrasound-guided technique.

Objective: The lateral oblique approach is a novel needle-in-plane technique for ultrasound-guided catheterization of the internal jugular vein. In this study, we aimed to compare the oblique approach with the classical short-axis technique for facilitating the procedure and reduction of mechanical complications.

Purification of peroxidase enzyme from radish species in fast and high yield with affinity chromatography technique.

In this study, an effective single step affinity method is presented for purifying plant peroxidase (POD) enzymes from radish species. This method make possible to purify the enzymes in high yield and purity. Briefly, 10 different 4-amino benzohydrazide derivatives were synthesized and identified as new competitive POD inhibitors.

Effects of Conivaptan versus Mannitol on Post-Ischemic Brain Injury and Edema.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of conivaptan, an arginine vasopressin antagonist, and mannitol, a sugar alcohol, on cerebral ischemia-induced brain injury and edema in rats.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-eight 8-week-old male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups: control, ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)+saline, I/R+mannitol, I/R+10 mg/ml conivaptan, and I/R+20 mg/ml conivaptan. Protective effects of different exercise modalities in an Alzheimer's disease-like model.

Our aim was to investigate the probable protective effects of aerobic, resistance and combined exercise methods on ovariectomy and d-galactose induced Alzheimer's Disease (AD)-like model. d-galactose (100mg/kg) or saline were administered intraperitoneally for 6 weeks to ovariectomized or sham-operated rats (n=8/group). Aerobic (AE), resistance (RE) and combined exercises (CE) (aerobic+resistance) were performed for 3 times a week for 6 weeks.
