Cholesterol dysregulation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of Alzheimer's disease.

Cholesterol and the immune system are involved in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). To investigate the relations among them, we compared the cholesterol content in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of cognitively healthy controls and patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD in two independent samples. Free cholesterol content of PBMC was lower in MCI and AD patients, and was modulated by APOE genotype.

[Prevention of eating disorders in specialty care].

There are many clinical situations and pathologies typically treated in secondary care that are closely related to eating disorders (EDs). In fact,secondary care is often the first (and sometimes only) contact patients with EDs have with a healthcare professional. In these situations, EDs can go unnoticed by healthcare professionals treating the patient if they do not have proper training.

[Alimentary and nutritional education in eating disorders].

Eating disorders (ED) are a complex pathology in which numerous etiopathogenic factors intervene, and their approach requires an interdisciplinary approach, which is why nutritional education (NE) should be part of both prevention and treatment programs, since NE aims to modify eating behavior to achieve healthier patterns and, for this, the development of nutritional teaching programs is required, directed to the patients and their environment, focusing on the different factors that condition food choices and attitudes towards feeding. NE in these patients is a fundamental therapeutic tool to achieve normalization of eating behavior, since it will allow to contribute knowledge that facilitates the adoption of healthy behaviors, abandon erroneous ideas, and reduce the irrational fear of certain foods, as well as minimize nutritional risk and normalize eating behavior. The prevalence of eating disorders has been increasing over the years and the concern is such that the different autonomous communities, hospitals, and government entities have developed guidelines and protocols that include NE for the prevention and management of the disease.

Introduction: Eco-guided interventionism has changed the way Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists deal with musculoskeletal pain and other problems such as spasticity. The implementation of the Eco-Guided Intervention Units improves the results of the usual minimally invasive treatments in our speciality's clinical practice. The biggest drawback of this practice is the long learning curve and the difficulty of practice during training courses.

Objective: National hip fracture registries have been established in several countries and recent publications show that the care process has been audited inspecting the representativeness according to quality standards. The aim of this study was to analyse if the Spanish National Hip Fracture Registry (RNFC) represents the Spanish population aged 75 and older admitted for hip fractures, and to compare its results regarding the care process with the national average, according to the National Inpatient register (Minimum Basic Dataset, CMBD).

Methods: The 2017-2018 National Minimum Basic Dataset (Conjunto Mínimo Básico de Datos, CMBD) was used as reference.

Prognostic models for mortality after cardiac surgery in patients with infective endocarditis: a systematic review and aggregation of prediction models.

Background: There are several prognostic models to estimate the risk of mortality after surgery for active infective endocarditis (IE). However, these models incorporate different predictors and their performance is uncertain.

Objective: We systematically reviewed and critically appraised all available prediction models of postoperative mortality in patients undergoing surgery for IE, and aggregated them into a meta-model.

[The NADYA-SENPE Home Enteral Nutrition Registry in Spain: years 2018 and 2019].

Aim: to present the results of the Spanish home enteral nutrition (HEN) registry of the NADYA-SENPE group for the years 2018 and 2019. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the clinical course of patients discharged from our emergency departament (ED) with pneumonia symptoms compatible with a diagnosis of COVID-19.

At diagnosis, approximately 70 % of women are overweight, and the additional weight gain that can result from the ensuing treatments has been associated with cancer recurrence and progression. Objectives: the main objective was to compare the effect of only a nutritional intervention (CG) with a nutrition education program (nutritional intervention, nutrition education, and physical activity) (IG) for 1 year.
