Objectives: The aim of this study was to prepare a sustained-delivery mucoadhesive-thermosensitive formulation containing poloxamer 338 (P338), poloxamer 188 (P188), and mucoadhesive agents, such as chitosan (CHT) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), to increase the ophthalmic bioavailability of timolol maleate (TM).
Materials And Methods: Gels were prepared by mixing different amounts of P338, P188, and a mucoadhesive agent in cold isotonic water using a magnetic stirrer. The sol-gel gelation time of the gels was determined using the test tube inversion method.

In this study, some new hydrazone derivatives (2a-g) was designed, synthesized for first time, and evaluated as multitarget inhibitors of AChE, BChE, hCA I and hCA II. The chemical structures of new hybrids were confirmed by elemental analysis and some spectroscopic techniques. All tested compounds showed low nanomolar inhibition with IC values of in the range of 30.

Ectoine, a biologically significant compound, was successfully produced by a strain of bacteria capable of utilizing sucrose. In a ground-breaking approach, we harnessed the potential of sugar beet molasses, a by-product rich in sucrose, amino acid, and vitamins, as a growth medium for this purpose. Through meticulous investigation, we identified the ideal conditions for maximizing ectoine synthesis.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has emerged as a vital life-support technique in critical care medicine, providing temporary circulatory and/or respiratory support for patients with severe cardiac or respiratory failure unresponsive to conventional therapies. This review aims to outline the importance of ECMO and provide a comprehensive overview of its main applications. Two primary types of ECMO, venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, serve distinct functions in supporting patients with cardiac or pulmonary dysfunction, respectively.

Somatic mutations and polymorphisms may play a role in multiple myeloma (MM) susceptibility and survival. One of the immune checkpoint inhibitors is P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1); the majority of tumor-infiltrating leukocytes express PSGL-1, causing T cell and immune inhibition via PSGL-1 mediator molecules. We aimed to investigate the effect of variable number of tandem repeat (VNTR) polymorphism in the second exon of the PSGL-1 gene on MM susceptibility, response to treatment and survival in our patient group.

A versatile family of quaternary propargylamines was synthesized employing the KA multicomponent reaction, through the single-step coupling of a number of amines, ketones, and terminal alkynes. Sustainable synthetic procedures using transition metal catalysts were employed in all cases. The inhibitory activity of these molecules was evaluated against human monoaminoxidase (hMAO)-A and hMAO-B enzymes and was found to be significant.
