This article aims to introduce the Safe Brain Initiative (SBI) approach, focusing on collecting and leveraging Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to enhance patient-centred precision anaesthesia and prevent postoperative delirium (POD) and neurocognitive disorders (NCD). The SBI was implemented to systematically address the feedback gap in perioperative care by collecting and analysing real-world data. The initiative focuses on monitoring and preventing POD and NCD, providing effective anaesthesia care, assessing patient and team satisfaction, and evaluating environmental sustainability impact.

The influence of microorganisms on early relapses after external dacryocystorhinostomy.

Purpose: Understanding the influence of microorganisms in patients with acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) and investigating their effect on recurrence after external dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).

Methods: This prospective study included 50 patients. Evaluations were made before, on the first postoperative day and monthly after DCR.

Nascent Malunion of Distal Radius Fractures Treated with Fixed Angled Volar Plates without Using Bone Grafts.

Purpose: Malunion of the distal radius is a common complication. Using bone grafts is common to restore the bone to an acceptable level. This study aimed to verify if it is necessary to use bone grafts in nascent malunion of distal radius fractures treated with fixed angled volar plates and which radiographic parameters are essential to obtain satisfactory outcomes.

Background: Long-term bowel dysfunction after resection for rectal cancer, known as low anterior resection syndrome (LARS), is observed in many patients. The LARS score was developed to assess this syndrome and its impact on the quality of life in Danish patients. Recently versions in English and many other languages have been validated.

Sleep Problems in Individuals With Intestinal Stomas and Determining the Quality of Sleep: A Multicenter Study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine sleep problems and the sleep quality of individuals with intestinal stomas.

Design: Descriptive quantitative design was used.

Subjects And Setting: The research was carried out from September 2018 to September 2019 at 3 university hospitals with stoma units located in Ankara, Turkey.

An Unconventional Approach to Overcome the Extreme Angulation of LAD: A Challenging Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

We herein describe a challenging acute anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) case. The patient was hemodynamically unstable during the procedure and the extremely angulated culprit vessel hindered our repeated attempts of wiring. Procedural complexity and risks were increased not only due to angulation but also the bifurcational nature of the culprit lesion.

Anterolateral Thigh Flap Coverage for Large Posterior Defects of the Elbow.

Purpose: This study highlights the advantages and disadvantages of Anterolateral Thigh (ALT) free flap using the brachial artery as the recipient vessel in large posterior defects of the elbow with early mobilization.

Methods: Eight patients with a soft tissue defect on the posterior elbow underwent reconstruction with an ALT free flap. Average age and follow-up were 29.

Evaluation of the Utility of Indocyanine Green Video Angiography in Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation Surgery.

Objective: To assess the utility of intraoperative indocyanine green video angiography (ICG-VA) during microsurgical resection of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).

Methods: Data of the 24 patients, who were surgically treated for AVM using intraoperative ICG-VA, were reviewed retrospectively. Postoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) was performed in all patients before they regained consciousness and became fully awake, and the results were compared with those obtained with intraoperative ICG-VA.

Posterior midline approach to odontoidectomy: A novel method to treat basilar invagination.

Background: Basilar invagination (BI) is a common malformation of the craniocervical region where the odontoid process protrudes into the foramen magnum. Surgery in this region is difficult because of the complex anatomy of the craniocervical junction. Serious life-threatening complications have been observed with previously described approaches.

Improvement of Work Productivity and Quality of Life with Anti-Tumor Necrosis Factor Treatment Used in Crohn's Disease in Routine Clinical Practice in Turkey.

Background: Patients with Crohn's disease experience major deterioration in work productivity and quality of life. We aimed to provide the long-term effects of anti-tumor necrosis factor agents on work productivity and activity impairment and quality of life in patients with Crohn's disease using the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire and the Short-Form Health Survey-36.

Methods: Patients with Crohn's disease and initiated an anti-tumor necrosis factor treatment were included and followed up for 12 months in this observational study.

Retzius-Sparing Modified Anatomical Structure Preserving and Retzius-Repairing Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy: A Prospective Randomized Comparison on Functional Outcomes with a 1-Year Follow-Up.

To compare the short-term and 1-year follow-up functional outcomes of modified anatomical structure preserving and Retziusrepairing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (APR-RARP) compared with Retzius-sparing (RS) RARP. Eighty consecutive patients 40-75 years of age with low-intermediate risk prostate cancer were prospectively randomized to APR-RARP or RS-RARP. Urinary continence (UC) recovery rates were evaluated from catheter removal up to 1 year follow-up.

Can Anti-embolism Stockings Cause Common Peroneal Nerve Palsy Following Total Hip Arthroplasty Via Anterior Approach? A Case Report.

We present a patient who had a common peroneal nerve palsy complication due to anti-embolism stocking compression following total hip arthroplasty (THA) surgery performed via the anterior approach (AA). The patient was a 17-year-old underweight female and have experienced bilateral hip pain for the last 3 years. Pelvic X-rays revealed bilateral osteonecrosis of the femoral head and THA surgery for the left hip via the AA was done.

Evaluation of Thiol/Disulfide Homeostasis in Bronchiectasis.

Purpose: Thiols are sulfhydryl-containing organic compounds that have an important role in preventing cellular oxidative stress. This study compares the blood oxidative stress marker levels in bronchiectasis cases during their stable periods with healthy controls.

Materials And Methods: Seventy-seven patients (49 patients with stable bronchiectasis/28 healthy controls), followed up by the chest disease clinic, were included in the study.
