Experiences of Self-Stigma in People with Chronic Psychosis: A Qualitative Study.

We present the results of a phenomenological study understanding the personal meaning of self-stigma in people with chronic psychosis. Self-stigma is a frequent phenomenon in the lives of people with psychosis and their families and it functions as a barrier to recovery. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with fourteen outpatients that suffer from chronic psychosis during January 2020.

Iodine status in pregnant women in northern Spain. Effect of iodised salt and iodine supplements on thyroid function.

Introduction: Iodine deficiency is linked to thyroid dysfunction, particularly in pregnant women. The objective of this study was to ascertain the iodine levels of women in the second trimester of pregnancy, analysing the influence of iodine ingestion on urinary iodine concentration (UIC) and maternal thyroid function.

Methods: A prospective observational study of pregnant women from Health Area IV of Asturias (northern Spain) recruited before 13 weeks of gestation between May and June 2017.

Respiratory and Cardiometabolic Comorbidities and Stages I to III NSCLC Survival: A Pooled Analysis From the International Lung Cancer Consortium.

Introduction: We explored the association of respiratory and cardiometabolic comorbidities with NSCLC overall survival (OS) and lung cancer-specific survival (LCSS), by stage, in a large, multicontinent NSCLC pooled data set.

Methods: On the basis of patients pooled from 11 International Lung Cancer Consortium studies with available respiratory and cardiometabolic comorbidity data, adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) were estimated using Cox models for OS. LCSS was evaluated using competing risk Grey and Fine models and cumulative incidence functions.

Accounting for EGFR Mutations in Epidemiologic Analyses of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancers: Examples Based on the International Lung Cancer Consortium Data.

Background: Somatic EGFR mutations define a subset of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) that have clinical impact on NSCLC risk and outcome. However, EGFR-mutation-status is often missing in epidemiologic datasets. We developed and tested pragmatic approaches to account for EGFR-mutation-status based on variables commonly included in epidemiologic datasets and evaluated the clinical utility of these approaches.

Psychological Inflexibility in People with Chronic Psychosis: The Mediating Role of Self-Stigma and Social Functioning.

Psychosis is associated with self-stigmatization and loss of social functioning that increase the severity of the disorder. Psychological inflexibility (PI)-an individual's tendency to suppress undesirable private events-plays a fundamental role in the emergence and worst prognosis of psychosis. The main objective of this study was to analyze whether self-stigma and social functioning mediate the association of PI with the severity of psychosis in adults with chronic schizophrenia.
