Introduction: Diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (DMPM) is a rare malignant neoplasm with poor survival that shares some similarities with the best-known pleural variant, pleural mesothelioma. The recent European Reference Network on Rare Adult Cancers (EURACAN)/International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) proposals attempted to improve the histological diagnosis and patient risk stratification. Herein, we investigated whether the pathology recommendations and suggestions of the pleural proposals were applicable to diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.

Objective: To describe the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of ovarian carcinosarcoma.
Methods: This was a retrospective multicenter study. Patients with a histological diagnosis of ovarian carcinosarcoma, who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination between 2010 and 2019, were identified from the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) database.

Coffee and tea are extensively consumed beverages worldwide which have received considerable attention regarding health. Intake of these beverages is consistently linked to, among others, reduced risk of diabetes and liver diseases; however, the mechanisms of action remain elusive. Epigenetics is suggested as a mechanism mediating the effects of dietary and lifestyle factors on disease onset.

Background: Epidemiologic studies examining the relations between dairy product and calcium intakes and breast cancer have been inconclusive, especially for tumor subtypes.
Objective: To evaluate the associations between intakes of specific dairy products and calcium and risk of breast cancer overall and for subtypes defined by estrogen receptor (ER) status.
Method: We pooled the individual-level data of over 1 million women who were followed for a maximum of 8-20 years across studies.

Objective: The aim of this meta-analysis was to discuss evidence supporting the efficacy of adjuvant human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in reducing the risk of recurrent cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 2 or greater after surgical treatment.
Methods: A systematic literature search was performed for studies reporting the impact of HPV vaccination on reducing the risk of recurrence of CIN 2+ after surgical excision. Results were reported as mean differences or pooled odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI).

Background: The management of primary or recurrent vaginal tumours in an aging population is challenging for gynecologic and radiation oncologists. In patients unsuited for surgery and already irradiated on the pelvis, proton beam radiotherapy may be worthwhile due to its ballistic advantages.
Case Report: We report the case of an 80-year-old woman with a squamous cell carcinoma of the vagina after a history of pelvic radiation and vaginal brachytherapy delivered for a previous endometrial adenocarcinoma.

Objective: Around 15% of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients (pts) harbor a germline BRCA1 or 2 mutation, showing different features than BRCA wild-type pts. The clinical and pathological features of an Italian BRCA mutated EOC cohort were described.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical, pathological and mutational data from a cohort of Italian BRCA mutated EOC pts.

Identifying precise targets of individual cancers remains challenging. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) represents the most common adult hematologic malignancy, and trisomy 12 (tri12) represents a quarter of CLL patients. We report that tri12 human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) allow for the identification of gene networks and targets specific to tri12, which are controlled by comparative normal PSCs.

Background: Efficacy of the nine-valent human papillomavirus (9vHPV; HPV types 6/11/16/18/31/33/45/52/58) vaccine was demonstrated in a phase 3 study in women 16-26 years of age. We present a phase 3 immunogenicity and safety study of the 9vHPV vaccine in women 27-45 versus 16-26 years of age.
Methods: This international, open-label study (NCT03158220) was conducted in women 16-45 years of age.

Bone metastases (BM) are still the main cause of morbidity in cancer patients because of skeletal-related events (SREs) that reduce quality of life. They have also led to increased social and healthcare costs. At present, data available on BM are insufficient.

The measurement of thrombin generation (TG) potential by the calibrated automated thrombogram (CAT) assay provides a strong contribution in identifying patients at high risk of early disease recurrence (E-DR). However, CAT assay still needs standardization and clinical validation. In this study, we aimed to validate the role of TG for E-DR prediction by means of the fully automated ST Genesia system.

Radioembolisation is a locoregional treatment modality for hepatic malignancies. It consists of several stages that are vital to its success, which include a pre-treatment angiographic simulation followed by nuclear medicine imaging, treatment activity choice, treatment procedure and post-treatment imaging. All these stages have seen much advancement over the past decade.

Objective: To ascertain, in cN0/1 breast cancer patients given primary chemotherapy followed by sentinel node biopsy (SNB), whether SNB alone is adequate axillary treatment if the sentinel nodes (SNs) are clear (pN0).
Summary Background Data: 2020 guidelines do not recommend SNB in most cN1 patients with clear SNs after primary chemotherapy because the high SNB false negative rate might lead to poorer outcomes.
Methods: We prospectively assigned SNB after primary chemotherapy to 353 consecutive cT2 cN0/1 patients, median age 47 years (range 22-76) treated from 2007 to 2015.

Cervical cancer (CC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in women aged 20-39 years. Persistent infection with oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV) represents the most important risk factor for the development of cervical cancer. Three HPVs vaccines are currently on the global market: bivalent, quadrivalent, and nonavalent.

Aim: During the last years, the role of sentinel lymph node mapping (SLNM) for endometrial cancer (EC) surgical treatment has increased in popularity. However, several controversies remain about different technical steps of SLNM. Thus, a randomised control trial was designed to compare cervical (CI) and hysteroscopic (HI) indocyanine green (ICG) injection for SLNM of newly diagnosed EC undergoing surgical staging.

Cancer cells can evade immune surveillance in the body. However, immune checkpoint inhibitors can interrupt this evasion and enhance the antitumor activity of T cells. Other mechanisms for promoting antitumor T-cell function are the targeting of costimulatory molecules expressed on the surface of T cells, such as 4-1BB, OX40, inducible T-cell costimulator and glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor.
