Purpose: To use anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) to investigate differences in punctal dimensions, tear meniscus height (TMH), and cornea among epiphora patients and healthy individuals; to assess its utility in screening and diagnosing epiphora; and to examine its effects on the cornea.
Study Design: Prospective, cross-sectional METHODS: A total of 43 patients (31 women) with epiphora (Munk score >2) and 58 healthy individuals (38 women) without ocular symptoms were enrolled in this study. AS-OCT (Maestro, Topcon) was used to measure TMH, outer punctal diameter (OPD), punctal depth (PD), and corneal epithelial thickness (CET).

Introduction: Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by recurrent upper airway obstructions during sleep. Positional OSA (POSA) and non-positional OSA are major subgroups that differ in clinical, polysomnographic, and treatment aspects. Furthermore, POSA can be classified into supine-isolated POSA (siPOSA) and supine-predominant POSA (spPOSA), which exhibit distinct characteristics.

Alternating bundle branch block is a significant conduction abnormality observed after transcatheter aortic valve replacement. This electrocardiographic finding indicates progressive conduction system disease, often on a background of preexisting conduction disturbances (eg, right bundle branch block). However, the presence of alternating fascicular block is very rare.

Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is described as the most excruciating pain typically involving the face. Microvascular decompression (MVD) is regarded as the established method of treatment of the condition. We aimed to detect the underlying pathology in recurrent TN cases, to prevent the recurrence rate of the patients and to determine the difficulties encountered during surgery.

Colonoscopy, a crucial procedure for detecting and removing colorectal polyps, has seen transformative advancements through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically in Computer-Aided Detection (CADe) and Diagnosis (CADx). These tools enhance real-time detection and characterization of lesions, potentially reducing human error, and standardizing the quality of colonoscopy across endoscopists. CADe has proven effective in increasing adenoma detection rate, potentially reducing long-term colorectal cancer incidence.

Introduction: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a potentially severe complication of ovulation induction. Although less common than with gonadotropin treatment, OHSS can occur secondary to an excessive dose of clomiphene citrate, a first-line ovulation induction agent. A serious complication of OHSS is ovarian torsion, which demands prompt diagnosis and intervention to prevent permanent damage.

Background: The benefit of performing a total pancreatectomy in high-risk patients is largely debated. Our aim is to evaluate what would have been the short-term outcomes of patients who underwent a high-risk pancreatoduodenectomy if a total pancreatectomy was performed instead.
Methods: Perioperative data from patients who underwent pancreatoduodenectomy or total pancreatectomy at 5 tertiary hepato-pancreato-biliary centers (2016-2022) were collected prospectively.

Purpose: Clinical and histopathologic diagnosis of pediatric mature B-cell lymphomas (eg, Burkitt lymphoma [BL]) must be accurate to select appropriate risk-based treatment. The Central American Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Association (AHOPCA) in 2000 implemented standardized, resource-adapted treatments for these lymphomas. We evaluated the concordance of local histopathologic diagnoses through central review, determined the impact on therapy selection, and described the clinical characteristics and outcomes of pediatric patients with these lymphomas.

Background: The zone of stasis in burns is particularly vulnerable to progressive ischemia, making it a critical target for therapeutic interventions. Preventing damage in this zone is essential, as its viability can be preserved with adequate perfusion. Recognizing this, we aimed to investigate the systemic effects of nicardipine, a calcium channel blocker with vasodilatory properties, on the stasis zone in an experimentally induced burn model in rats.
