Given the multidimensional aspect of pain, the assessment of treatment efficacy is challenging. The prospective observational multicenter PREDIBACK study aimed to assess, compare, and predict the effectiveness of different treatments for persistent spinal pain syndrome type 2 (PSPS-T2) using a digital tool and the Multidimensional Clinical Response Index (MCRI) including pain intensity, functional disability, quality of life, anxiety and depression, and pain surface. Results indicated that neurostimulation was the most effective treatment at 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month follow-up compared to baseline, leading to significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life, whereas optimized medical management (OMM) and spinal reoperation showed no significant benefits.

Scabiosa artropurperea, a member of the Dipsacaceae family and Scabiosa genus, is renowned for its medicinal properties. In the present study, we investigated the impact of Scabiosa artropurperea aqueous extract (AES) on the in vivo reproductive functions in Queue Fine de l'Ouest ewes, and on in vitro ovine granulosa cells. Ewes were synchronized for 14 days with intra-vagina progesterone (P4) devices (FGA, 20 mg) and divided into four groups receiving daily oral doses of 0, 1, 2, and 4 mg of AES/kg Live Body Weight (LBW), respectively.

In this paper, microporous Zn-based zeolitic imidazolate framework with the sodalite cage structure (SOD-ZIF-8) was synthesized by the solvothermal method. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and N2 adsorption were employed to characterize the synthesized material. An ultra-sensitive electrochemical sensor based on highly dispersed bimetallic Ni-Pt nanoparticles immobilized on zeolitic metal-organic framework ZIF-8 for dopamine quantification is introduced for the first time.

Penicillin allergy is the most commonly reported drug allergy, with prevalence rates ranging from 6% to 31% across various populations and geographic areas. The penicillin allergy label is linked to higher mortality and morbidity rates, extended hospital stays, increased readmission rates, and a greater reliance on second-line antibiotics. Research indicates that nearly 99% of those labeled as penicillin-allergic can tolerate the drug.

Ovaries are of paramount importance in reproduction as they produce female gametes through a complex developmental process known as folliculogenesis. In the prospect of better understanding the mechanisms of folliculogenesis and of developing novel pharmacological approaches to control it, it is important to accurately and quantitatively assess the later stages of ovarian folliculogenesis (i.e.

The current study investigates and compares the biological effects of ultrathin conformal coatings of zirconium dioxide (ZrO) and vanadium pentoxide (VO) on osteoblastic MG-63 cells grown on TiO nanotube layers (TNTs). Coatings were achieved by the atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. TNTs with average tube diameters of 15, 30, and 100 nm were fabricated on Ti substrates (via electrochemical anodization) and were used as primary substrates for the study.

Chicken meat production in organic systems involves free-range access where animals can express foraging and locomotor behaviours. These behaviours may promote outdoor feed intake, but at the same time energy expenditure when exploring the outdoor area. More generally, the relationship of range use with metabolism, welfare including health, growth performance and meat quality needs to be better understood.

Intravaginal sponges impregnated with the progesterone (P4) analogue fluorogestone acetate (FGA) induce synchronous oestrous behaviour and normal ovulatory cycle in goats. To explore alternatives using natural P4 from plants, we developed a method of ethanolic extraction and a specific enzyme immunoassay (EIA) to measure P4 in the different parts of the walnut tree Juglans regia. We found a very high concentration of P4, specifically in the leaves of the three most common French varieties (∼100 mg/kg of DM) but not in flowers, fruits, septa, husk, oil or cake.

Perturbation of the deoxyribonucleotide triphosphate (dNTP) pool is recognized for contributing to the mutagenic processes involved in oncogenesis. The RAS gene family encodes well characterized oncoproteins whose structure and function are among the most frequently altered in several cancers. In this work, we show that fluctuation of the dNTP pool induces CG->TA mutations across the whole genome, including RAS gene at codons for glycine 12 and 13, known hotspots in cancers.

The drug authorization process is shifting towards a policy aimed at shortening time-to-market. While this policy facilitates early access to new treatments, it can also result in potentially insufficient knowledge of both efficacy and safety at the time of marketing. The latter is particularly true for long-term outcomes or in specific populations (e.

Introduction: Progressive interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are rare but severe diseases, with high mortality and morbidity, with no effective pharmacological treatment allowing for long-term remission, and therefore no clear therapeutic recommendations. Several ILDs present inflammatory components (ILDic), which may justify the use of anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs, as first-step therapy. Except for systemic sclerosis (SSc)-ILD and sarcoidosis, the evidence in favor of this approach is very weak.

Background: Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) has emerged as a minimally invasive percutaneous procedure addressing neuropathic pain. However, the percutaneous cylindrical lead ultrasound-guided implantation procedure requires expertise that limits widespread PNS utilization. To overcome these challenges, a microinvasive endoscopy device has very recently been developed, enhancing the precision of PNS implantation by providing accurate visualization of the targeted nerve.

There is no consensus in the literature regarding the optimal treatment for complex proximal humerus fractures (PHFs). The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical, functional, and radiological outcomes, and complications, associated with the Bilboquet implant in the treatment of PHFs. The search was conducted from the first description of the Bilboquet device in 1994 to June 2024, across PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, using specific keywords such as ("Bilboquet" OR "Bilboquet prosthesis" OR "Bilboquet device") AND ("proximal humerus fracture" OR "shoulder fracture"), along with Boolean operators.
