Integrated pest management (IPM) is a comprehensive approach to managing diseases, focusing on combining various strategies to reduce pathogen populations effectively and in an environmentally conscious way. We investigated the effects of IPM on beneficial microbial populations and its relationship with pathogen populations in both direct-seeded rice (DSR) and transplanted rice (TR) systems. Wheat blast (WB) is a devastating fungal disease that has recently spread to Bangladesh and poses a threat to the wheat production in India, which is the second-largest wheat producing country in the world. Given the complexity of nutrient stress responses and the availability of a few validated reference genes, we aimed to identify robust and stable reference genes for macronutrient stress in rice and soybean. Ten potential reference genes were evaluated using geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper, Comparative ΔCt method, and RefFinder algorithms under low and completely starved conditions of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and sulphur (S). Results revealed distinct sets of reference gene pairs, showing stable expression under different experimental conditions.

Microorganisms inhabiting bulk soil and rhizosphere play an important role in soil biogeochemical cycles leading to enhanced plant growth and productivity. In this context, the role of bacteria is well established, however, not much reports are available about the role archaea plays in this regard. Literature suggests that archaea also play a greater role in nutrient cycling of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, and other minerals, possess various plant growth promoting attributes, and can impart tolerance to various abiotic stresses (especially osmotic and oxidative) in areas of high salinity, low and high temperatures and hydrogen ion concentrations.
