Here we are presenting an automated computational pipeline used to mine 5976 mitochondrial genomes to identify common, polymorphic, and unique microsatellites also known as simple sequence repeats (SSRs). Microsatellites are repetitive motifs of 1-6 bases in a DNA sequence. Due to their abundance and highly polymorphic nature, microsatellites have become one of the widely used molecular/genetic markers valuable for many studies including gene tagging, genetic diversity, and species identification.

Background: Chromobacterium species, through their bioactive molecules, help in combating biotic and abiotic stresses in plants and humans. The present study was aimed to identify, characterize and preserve in natural gums the violet-pigmented bacterial isolate TRFM-24 recovered from the rhizosphere soil of rice collected from Tripura state.
Results: Based on morphological, biochemical and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, the isolate TFRM-24 was identified as Chromobacterium violaceum (NAIMCC-B-02276; MCC 4212).

Severe leaf curl disease of tomato (ToLCD) was noticed recently in the central parts of India and is an emerging threat to the cultivation of tomato. The genomic components of the begomovirus isolate, DNA A and betasatellite associated with ToLCD were cloned by rolling circle amplification method and sequenced. The sequence analysis revealed that the DNA A (2766 nt) of this isolate had the nucleotide identity of >91% with other strains of Tomato leaf curl Karnataka virus (ToLCKV), hence this isolate is proposed as a strain of ToLCKV, named as ToLCKV-Raipur.

In the present study, the spectrum of bacterial pathogens in the nasal shedding during disease process and in pneumonic lungs of dead animals was studied. A total of 288 clinical samples from cattle and buffaloes comprising of nasal swabs, blood, tracheal swabs, heart blood and lung tissue samples were collected from diseased (n = 190) and dead animals (n = 98). The recovered bacterial isolates were characterized by biochemical reactions, Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI TOF-MS) and the 16S rRNA sequence analysis.
