The objective of the present work was to study dynamics of the temperature of a corpse of an experimental animal (a pig) between the moment of death till complete skeletization, The porcine corpse weighing approximately 100 kg was placed in the bilberry spruce forest in the southern part of the Karelian Republic. Variations in the temperature of the corpse were measured with the use of the EClrerk-USB-2Pt logger (an autonomous register of temperature) along with those of the environmental (the air and the soil) temperature during 86 days in the period from June till September. It was shown that the temperature of the corpse first decreased but began to increase thereafter due to the enhancement of the biological activity of microorganisms.

Aim: to analyze well-known risk factors (RFs), such as age, immunophenotype, baseline leukocytosis, enhanced lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, time to achieve complete remission, a risk group, and cytogenetic abnormalities) in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in the use of the ALL-2009 protocol.
Subjects And Methods: The protocol covered 298 patients (137 women (including 13 pregnant women) and 161 men) aged 15 to 55 years (median age 28 years) with Ph-negative ALL. The phenotype was unknown in 6 patients.

Aim: To assess the results of determination of glycation end-products (GEPs) by skin autofluorescence (AF) in patients on chronic hemodialysis (HD).
Subjects And Methods: A device made in Russia was used to estimate skin AF intensity in 40 apparently healthy individuals and in 76 patients treated with chronic HD. While analyzing the findings, comparisons were made in both groups; a relationship between skin AF intensity and clinical and laboratory parameters was also investigated in patients on HD.

The objective of the present work was to study peculiar features of the injuries to three spinal regions in the victims of a head-on car collision found in the passenger compartments of modern motor vehicles equipped with seat belts and other safety means. It was shown that most frequent fatal injuries to the driver include the fractures of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae. These injuries are much less frequent in the passengers occupying the front and the right back seats.

This paper was designed to report the results of the retrospective analysis of the protocols of 180 forensic medical autopsy sections stored in the archives of Sankt-Petersburg Bureau of Forensic Medical Expertise and the data of the histological studies of myocardial tissues obtained after sudden cardiac death from alcoholic cardiomyopathy. The study revealed the following most pathognomonic histological criteria for alcoholic heart lesions: the alternation of hypertrophic and atrophic cardiomyocytes in the state of severe parenchymatous degeneration, pronounced mesenchymal fatty dystrophy in combination with pathological changes of the vascular walls (vascular wall plasmatization), sub-endothelial accumulation of the PAS-positive tissue compounds, microcirculatory disorders in the form of erythrocyte stasis with the manifestations of the blood "sludge" phenomenon, and precapillary fibrosis. The signs of severe parenchymatous and stromal vascular dystrophy of the myocardial histohematic barrier (HHB) are supposed to reflect the toxic effects of ethanol and its metabolites that are directly involved in the mechanisms underlying the disturbances of intracellular metabolism and dyscirculatory events leading to the development of heart muscle hypoxia.

The author estimates the effectiveness of morphological diagnostics of alcoholic cardiomyopathy taking into consideration the general patterns of the structural and functional organization of the heart with special reference to myocardial histo-hematic barrier (HHB) the components of which are characterized by specific structural and functional properties and close relationships between them. It was shown that the morphological changes in the histo-hematic barrier reflect the range of variability of its morphological components and may be used as the indicators of its integrity and stability in the case of disorder. The study has demonstrated that the structural and functional degradation as well as decay of myocardial components may occur under the influence of both an ultrastrong acute impact and latent chronic intoxication or the diseases accompanied by rapid or slow persisting disintegration of the structural organization of the organ.
