A series of polyalkoxy substituted 7-hydroxy- and 7-methoxy-4-aryl-4H-chromenes were evaluated using the sea urchin embryo model to yield several compounds exhibiting potent antimitotic microtubule destabilizing activity. Data obtained by the assay were further confirmed in the NCI60 human cancer cell screen. The replacement of methylenedioxy ring A and lactone ring D in podophyllotoxin analogues by 7-methoxy, 2-NH2, and 3-CN groups in 4-aryl-4H-chromenes resulted in potent antimitotic microtubule destabilizing agents.

We studied the effects of ethanol on bioamine-containing structures in the jejunum at different stages of alcohol intoxication. The content of catecholamines, serotonin, and histamine in enterocytes of the villus epithelium, submucosa mast cells, crypt enterocytes, and muscular layer was measured by luminescent microscopy and cytospectrofluorometry. Uneven increase of biogenic amine content was found in rats in the initial period of chronic alcohol intoxication (60 days).

Study of the effects of 2- and 10-min acupuncture on skin structures in acupuncture points on the upper limb and trunk of outbred albino rats showed that changes in the monoamine status of the skin appeared as early as 15 min after acupuncture. However, the effects in points GV14 and LI11 were different: skin structures in acupuncture point LI11 reacted sooner and more intensively. Acupuncture caused opposite changes in the serotonin index in different structures of the skin in acupuncture points.

The aim of this work was to study the dynamics of the neurotransmitter (cateholamine, serotonin, histamine) content in the thymic structures, as well as of heparin maturation degree and degranulation in the thymic mast cells population by means of Falck, Cross and Unna luminescent-histochemical methods 1-30 days following daily T-activinum injections. Concentration of the neurotransmitters in all the bioamine-containing thymic structures was found to fall by day 7, but after day 14 it began to increase, reaching a high level by day 30 that significantly exceeded the initial values. The degree of heparin maturation in mast cells was increased at days 21 and 30.
