Combined Application of Hyaluronidase and Collagenase for Late-Onset Edema in Periocular Area After Hyaluronic Acid Volume Repositioning: A Six-Case Retrospective Review.

Background And Objective: Although generally low-risk, hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers can lead to late-onset edema, particularly in the periocular region. This condition typically manifests three to four months post-injection and requires specialized management, usually with hyaluronidase. However, increased use of hyaluronidase has resulted in instances of post-hyaluronidase syndrome, leading to unaesthetic outcomes.

Canaliculops Mimicking Canaliculitis.

Canaliculops is a rare case of a medial canthal mass due to a non-infectious dilation of the canaliculus and easily mimics canaliculitis with canalicular dilation. We report a case of a 68-year-old woman with a five-year history of progressive swelling of the right upper eyelid. The patient was previously diagnosed with canaliculitis at other clinics and had a history of diabetes mellitus.

Effectiveness of comprehensive approach in rejuvenating the aging lower periorbita.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of a comprehensive surgical approach for rejuvenation of the aging lower periorbita.

Methods: Between February 2018 and January 2023, 80 eyes of 40 patients with lower lid dermatochalasis (LLD), lower lid laxity (LLL) or orbicularis laxity of the lower lid (OL) admitted to the oculoplastic surgery department of our clinic were included in the study. 18 eyes had LLD, 14 eyes had LLL, 18 eyes had LLD and LLL, and 30 eyes had LLD, LLL and OL.

Orbital Septum Posterior to Medial Canthal Tendon Area.

Purpose: To examine the anatomy of the orbital septum posterior to the medial canthal tendon area.

Materials And Methods: We performed 3 anatomical dissections in the present study. The first one was a microscopic study in which exenterated specimens from 6 Japanese cadavers (age from 77 to 93 years at death) were cut inferno-horizontally, including the Müller muscle, medial rectus pulley, and lateral rectus pulley, and stained with Masson's trichrome.

Bleb Reformation After Lateral Cantholysis in a Case of Prostaglandin-associated Periorbitopathy.

An 84-year-old male with uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP), despite maximum topical medications including prostaglandin F2α analog, had bilateral prostaglandin-associated periorbitopathy-related tight upper eyelids. One day after trabeculectomy of the left eyelid, IOP was 24 mm Hg, with a flat bleb. Daily ocular massage failed to maintain bleb filtration.

Orbital Intraosseous Abscess After Lateral Bony Orbital Decompression.

A 66-year-old woman status post bony lateral orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease presented with recurrent episodes of left lateral canthal edema and erythema, despite repeated courses of oral antibiotics, titanium hardware removal, and repeated exploratory orbitotomies with debridement and curettage. MRI later revealed an intraosseous fluid collection in the left greater sphenoid wing. Another exploratory orbitotomy was performed and an intraosseous abscess was identified.

Background And Objectives: Endophthalmitis is a type of eye inflammation that affects all structures of the eye and is generally of infectious origin. Introduction: The aim of the study was to report 5 cases of concomitant traumatic macular hole (TMH) and orbital fracture and discuss its incidence.

Methods: This was a retrospective, observational study including all patients with orbital fracture who were referred to us from May 2013 to December 2023. Infantile Hemangioma Localized in the Levator Aponeurosis-Müller's Muscle Complex.

A two-month-old male infant presented with a soft palpable mass on his left upper eyelid. Initial management consisted of watchful observation followed by administration of β-blocker eyedrops on the eight-month check-up when a purple subconjunctival mass was observed during eyelid eversion, suggestive of an infantile hemangioma. At the three-year follow-up, since it was observed that the treatment did not reduce the size of the mass, an excisional biopsy was performed at the request of the mother.

The objective was to evaluate the performance of ChatGPT responses compared to human oculofacial plastic surgeon (OPS) responses to FAQs about an upper eyelid blepharoplasty procedure.

Surgical outcomes and management of complications of StopLoss Jones tube: a single-center study.

Purpose: We evaluated the surgical outcomes and management of complications associated with the minimally invasive conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy using the StopLoss Jones (SLJT) tube of proximal lacrimal canal obstruction.

Methods: The study retrospectively included 22 eyes of 15 patients who underwent SLJT for proximal canalicular obstruction. Age, gender, follow-up duration, etiology of canalicular obstruction, previous surgery, tube size, complications, and the need for additional surgical intervention were assessed.

Introduction: Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS), formerly known as malignant fibrous histiocytoma, is a high-grade soft tissue sarcoma arising from mesenchymal stem cells. UPSs are rare and account for about 5% of all soft tissue sarcoma. UPSs arising in the head and neck are especially rare, comprising 1-3% of all UPSs.

A Proposed Protocol for the Acute Management of Palpebro-Orbital Myiasis: Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Periocular and orbital myiasis are rare, vision-threatening conditions characterized by the infestation of dipterous fly larvae into periorbital and orbital tissues. While it has been primarily reported in tropical and subtropical regions where the climate is ideal for fly larval breeding, any patient with inadequate wound care regardless of geography may be predisposed.
