For successful chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy, CAR-T cells must be manufactured without failure caused by suboptimal expansion. In order to determine risk factors for CAR-T cell manufacturing failure, we performed a nationwide cohort study in Japan and analysed patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who underwent tisagenlecleucel production. We compared clinical factors between 30 cases that failed (7.

Aim: Weight gain with the use of dolutegravir, bictegravir, and tenofovir alafenamide for antiretroviral therapy has been reported. However, studies on changes in body composition and the leptin/adiponectin ratio after antiretroviral therapy initiation are limited. These factors are important because they can be used as indicators of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease risk.

Unlabelled: Plasma renin activity (PRA) level at admission is reported to be a prognostic predictor of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) patients. Although PRA is affected during hospitalization by several factors including fluid volume and drug titration, whether the changes in PRA levels during hospitalization (ΔPRA) are associated with prognosis of ADHF patients are largely unknown.
Purpose: Investigate the predictive impact of ΔPRA on the prognosis of ADHF patients with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF).

Purpose: Although a novel deep learning software was proposed using post-processed images obtained by the fusion between X-ray images of normal post-operative radiography and surgical sponge, the association of the retained surgical item detectability with human visual evaluation has not been sufficiently examined. In this study, we investigated the association of retained surgical item detectability between deep learning and human subjective evaluation.
Methods: A deep learning model was constructed from 2987 training images and 1298 validation images, which were obtained from post-processing of the image fusion between X-ray images of normal post-operative radiography and surgical sponge.

Confirmation of patient information is required to ensure the safety of radiation therapy. The purpose of this study was to construct a system that facilitates radiation therapy operations by linking a radiation therapy information system to a smartphone. By linking a smartphone to a radiation therapy operation support system, without using a PC terminal, we were able to input information about the patient's position and fixation into images taken with a smartphone.

The incidence of severe adverse events (SAEs) and associated risk factors in hematopoietic cell transplantation donors needs to be clarified for related donors (relatives of the transplant recipient), whose criteria for donation are more lenient than for unrelated donors. Data from related donors registered in the Japanese national data registry database between 2005 and 2021 were evaluated to determine the association of short-term SAE incidence with donor characteristics at registration.Fourteen of 4339 bone marrow (BM) donors (0.

We present a narrative review focusing on the new role of nociception monitor in intraoperative anesthetic management. Higher invasiveness of surgery elicits a higher degree of surgical stress responses including neuroendocrine-metabolic and inflammatory-immune responses, which are associated with the occurrence of major postoperative complications. Conversely, anesthetic management mitigates these responses.

Several risk factors for insomnia in cancer patients have been recognized, including chronic pain and treatment with opioid. Although associations between insomnia and central sensitization were previously reported in patients with chronic non-cancer pain, those have not been elucidated among cancer survivors undergoing opioid therapy for chronic cancer pain. To investigate the associations between insomnia and central sensitization among cancer survivors undergoing opioid therapy for chronic cancer pain, consecutive patients undergoing chemotherapy with chronic cancer pain under opioid therapy on an outpatient basis were enrolled from September 2019 to August 2020 and answered questions from the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) for assessing insomnia.

Objectives: To compare the impact of tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) on the slope of the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) with that of abacavir in Japanese patients living with HIV infection.
Methods: The participants in this single-centre, retrospective, observational study were Japanese patients with HIV infection who started antiretroviral therapy with TAF/emtricitabine or abacavir/lamivudine or were switched from tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine to TAF/emtricitabine or abacavir/lamivudine (anchor drugs remained constant) between January 2012 and December 2020. The eGFR slope was defined as the regression coefficient between eGFR and time.

Although cardiac dysfunction after chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has been increasingly reported, the underlying dynamics and pathogenesis are not well documented. Herein, we describe the clinical presentation and treatment for two patients who developed severe acute heart failure after CAR T-cell therapy. Both cases shared several common characteristics, including the bone marrow involvement at the time of CAR T-cell therapy and early onset of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) with fever developing on the day of CAR T-cell infusion.

In the assessment of skeletal muscle strength, rate of force development (RFD) is clinically identified as a functional index that reflects the effects of aging, but there are few reports on RFD of the tongue. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between RFD of tongue pressure (RFD-TP) and oral and whole-body physical performance in older adults, and to clarify its characteristics. We enrolled adults aged ≥65 years with pathological occlusal contact in premolar and molar regions of teeth in the Tamba-Sasayama area, Japan, from 2017 to 2018.

Adenosine causes the anti-inflammatory effect of MTX; however, the contributions of synoviocyte adenosine receptors (AdoRs) are unknown, and matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3) is released by fibroblast-like synoviocytes in response to inflammatory signaling. To understand the mechanism of the clinical observation that the matrix proteinase-3 concentration of patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated successfully with methotrexate does not usually normalize, we investigated the effects of A AdoR activation and inhibition on tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα)-induced MMP-3 release by MH7A human rheumatoid synovial cells. MH7A cells constitutively expressed membrane-associated A AdoRs, and HENECA enhanced intracellular cAMP.
