Aim: To describe the use of invasive mechanical ventilation core strategies, adjuvant treatments and the occurrence of barotrauma and prolonged ventilation in ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark, retrospectively.
Methods: All ICUs admitting COVID-19 patients in Denmark from 10 March 2020 to 2 April 2021 were invited to participate. All patients with COVID-19 who received invasive mechanical ventilation were included and data was retrospectively collected from electronic patient records.

Introduction: Refractory malignant ascites (RMA) is a manifestation of end-stage cancer disease with a major impact on quality of life due to the symptom burden and need for repeated hospitalisations. We previously described the implantation of the permanent PleurX catheter as a treatment of RMA. The present study aimed to evaluate and describe our experience with the permanent PleurX catheter system in the largest cohort to date.

Objective: Migraine is one of the most common pain disorders among women of childbearing age. While medical treatment might be necessary for some during pregnancy, non-pharmacological approaches, such as exercise, are generally recommended. We aimed to assess the association between migraine and exercise behaviours, adherence to the national recommendations for exercise, and the type of exercise undertaken during early pregnancy within a cohort of Danish women.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to report isometric hip adduction and abduction strength reference values of men's and women's Gaelic football and rugby union players and compare values between sexes and between sports.
Methods: This cross-sectional cohort study consisted of 331 club-level athletes. Maximum isometric hip adduction squeeze and abduction press strength values were measured with a ForceFrame across several testing positions.

Aim: Knowledge about the clinical role that respiratory viruses play in infants and toddlers with cystic fibrosis (CF) remains limited. We determined the prevalence of respiratory viruses in routine respiratory secretion samples in children aged 0-3 years with CF. Associations with bacterial infections, respiratory tract symptoms and lung function were also explored.

Objective: This clinical trial investigated the safety and efficacy of single-cycle pembrolizumab in patients with localized deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) colon cancer.
Background: Neoadjuvant immunotherapy has induced remarkable rates of pathological complete response in patients with dMMR colon cancer. However, the optimal length and type of treatment are yet to be determined.

Introduction: Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) taxonomy has moved in the direction of a molecular classification, but further clinical experience is needed. We present high-risk gene mutations, which predict outcome in an exploratory study of a consecutive real-world cohort of patients with primary LBCL treated with R-CHOP or R-CHOP-like therapy.
Methods: The study was a Registry Study Research Project.

Many endocrine glands exhibit circadian rhythmicity, but the interplay between the central circadian clock in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the peripheral endocrine clock, and hormones is sparsely understood. We therefore studied the cellular localizations of the clock protein PER1, parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin (CT) in the parathyroid and thyroid glands, respectively. Thyroid glands, including the parathyroids, were dissected at different time-points from rats housed in 12 h:12 h light-darkness cycles, and were double-immunostained for PER1 and PTH or CT.

Rationale: Postpartum iron deficiency anaemia is caused by antenatal iron deficiency or excessive blood loss at delivery and might affect up to 50% of labouring women in low- and middle-income countries. Effective and safe treatment during early motherhood is important for maternal well-being and newborn care. Treatment options include oral iron supplementation, intravenous iron, erythropoietin, and red blood cell transfusion.

Background: The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Understanding the dynamics of the gut microbiome in relation to treatment can provide valuable insights into disease management and therapy strategies. The aim of this study is to investigate if diversity and composition of the gut microbiome correlate with time since treatment and disease activity during maintenance infliximab (IFX) therapy among children with IBD.

Objectives: Activation of type M2 macrophages has been implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis (CP). In a clinical pilot study, we investigated blood-based markers of macrophage activation at different stages of CP.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of prospectively collected plasma samples from healthy controls and patients with suspected or definitive CP according to the M-ANNHEIM criteria.

Long-standing ulcerative colitis (UC) is associated with an increased risk of developing colorectal neoplasia. Both dye-based chromoendoscopy (DCE) and virtual chromoendoscopy (VCE) increase detection of neoplastic lesions. In this prospective randomized controlled trial (RCT), we compared the neoplasia detection rate between DCE and i-scan VCE in patients with long-standing UC.

Background: We aimed to investigate how self-reported physical and cognitive limitations (challenges), self-efficacy, and social support interacted with life satisfaction in adolescents and young adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) or acquired heart disease, among whom life satisfaction may be impaired.
Methods: "Adolescence with Heart Disease" was a cross-sectional, nationwide survey of patients with CHD or early acquired heart disease aged 15-25. Structural equation modeling was used to test the implied latent variable mediation model between the main outcome of interest (life satisfaction) and challenges, social support, and self-efficacy.

Background/objectives: Genicular artery embolization (GAE) has demonstrated potential as a treatment for knee osteoarthritis by targeting inflammation and pain, although current evidence remains limited. This study used imaging biomarkers to objectively assess synovitis and possible ischemic complications following GAE.
Methods: This was a prospective, single-center trial including participants with mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis.

BACKGROUND Giant coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) are extremely rare and can mimic cardiac tumors. Therefore, an unidentified mass in the heart requires a multimodality imaging approach for accurate diagnosis and guidance of further management, which for CAAs often include surgical intervention to prevent complications such as thrombosis or rupture. CASE REPORT A 37-year-old man presented with non-specific symptoms.

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction is a syndrome consisting of symptoms (dyspnoea, fatigue, swelling) and/or signs of congestion (pulmonary crackles, oedema). It is caused by structural and/or functional pathologies, most commonly ischaemic heart disease, entailing elevated cardiac filling pressures and can result in low cardiac output. Medical treatment has evolved during the recent decades as outlined in this review, and a 4-pillar treatment strategy is recommended including a renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blocker or sacubitril/valsartan, a betablocker, a mineralocorticoid antagonist, and an SGLT2 inhibitor.
