Background: Influenza virus (IV) is a leading cause of respiratory tract infections, eliciting responses from key innate immune cells such as Macrophages (MQs), Neutrophils, and Dendritic Cells (DCs). These cells employ diverse mechanisms to combat IV, with Inflammasomes playing a pivotal role in viral infection control. Cellular death mechanisms, including Pyroptosis, Apoptosis, and Necroptosis (collectively called PANoptosis), significantly contribute to the innate immune response.

Objectives: To investigate the role of Brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the psychotic symptoms in first-episode patients with schizophrenia and whether BDNF levels were associated with the improvement of psychotic symptoms after risperidone treatment.
Methods: 89 schizophrenia patients and 90 healthy controls were recruited, the schizophrenia patients were assigned into early response or early non-response groups at 2 weeks based on improvement in the positive and negative symptoms scale (PANSS) total score. All patients were treated with risperidone for 2 weeks, their serum BDNF levels were compared at baseline and after 2 weeks treatment.

Background: Studies have found that sleep disturbance is associated with obsessive-compulsive symptoms. This study aimed to elaborate on the mediating and moderating mechanisms between these two variables. We hypothesized that repetitive negative thinking plays a mediating role in the relationship between sleep disturbance and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and experiential avoidance plays a moderating role.

Over 48 million cases of sepsis and 11 million sepsis-related deaths were reported in 2017, making it one of the leading causes of mortality. This meta-analysis compared mortality risk among patients with sepsis or septic shock and associated hypoglycemia or euglycemia on admission by searching for observational studies in PubMed, Embase and Scopus databases. The eligible studies included patients with sepsis and/or severe sepsis/septic shock and compared mortality rates between those with hypoglycemia on admission and those who were euglycemic.

A more effective and better-tolerated site for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treating cognitive dysfunction in patients with bipolar disorder (BD) is needed. The primary visual cortex (V1) may represent a suitable site. To investigate the use of the V1, which is functionally linked to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), as a potential site for improving cognitive function in BD.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the most prevalent form of depression and is becoming a great challenge for public health and medical practice. Although first-line antidepressants offer therapeutic benefits, about 35% of depressed patients are not adequately treated, creating a substantial unmet medical need. A multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial was conducted in patients with MDD in China to assess the efficacy and safety of ansofaxine (LY03005), a potential triple reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

Aim: To analyze the changes of chronotypes in patients with depression before and after treatment, and explore the effects of different chronotypes on antidepressant treatment and the dimensions of common symptoms in patients with depression.
Methods: 180 patients with depression were selected from 10 tertiary psychiatric hospitals in Zhejiang province, according to the scores of morningness-eveningness questionnaire (MEQ), the patients were divided into three groups: early-type group, middle-type group and late-type group. The 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale anxiety Scale (HAMA), Snaith Hamilton Pleasure Scale (SHAPS), multidimensional fatigue inventory-20(MFI-20) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) were measured at baseline and at the end of the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th weeks, the variance analysis of repeated measures was used to analyze the change of each index in the study.

Brain ischemia is an independent risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD); however, the mechanisms underlining ischemic stroke and AD remain unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the function of the ε isoform of protein kinase C (PKCε) in brain ischemia-induced dendritic spine dysfunction to elucidate how brain ischemia causes AD. In the present study, primary hippocampus and cortical neurons were cultured while an oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) model was used to simulate brain ischemia.

The muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) antagonist, scopolamine, has been shown to have a rapid antidepressant effect. And it is believed that GABAergic interneurons play a crucial role in this action. Therefore, characterizing the modulation effects of mAChR on GABAergic interneurons is crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying scopolamine's antidepressant effects.

Background And Aims: Nicotine dependence (ND)-induced anxiety might be modulated by genetic polymorphisms. The gene-by-environment interaction can be fitted into the diathesis-stress and differential susceptibility models. Nevertheless, knowledge of the interaction between adiponectin (ADPN) polymorphisms and ND on the incident mental disorder is currently scarce.

Narcolepsy is characterized by uncontrollable excessive daytime sleepiness, paroxysmal cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hallucinations. It is often misdiagnosed as psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia, resulting from the overlap in symptoms and a lack of understanding of narcolepsy. In the present study, three cases of narcolepsy misdiagnosed as depression, dissociative disorder, and schizophrenia are presented to emphasize the high occurrence of the misdiagnosis of narcolepsy in clinical practice.

Depressed mice have lower numbers of microglia in the dentate gyrus (DG). Reversal of this decline by a single low dose of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) may have antidepressant effects, but there is little information on the molecular mechanisms underlying this effect. It is known that impairment of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signaling is involved in the development of depression.
