Objective: Cesarean section (CS) rates have been on the rise globally, leading to an increasing number of women facing the decision between a Trial of Labor after two Cesarean Sections (TOLAC-2) or opting for an Elective Repeat Cesarean Section (ERCS). This study evaluates and compares safety outcomes of TOLAC and ERCS in women with a history of two previous CS deliveries.

Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE, EMbase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) databases were searched for studies published until 30 June 2023.

Possible Role of Cellular Polyamine Metabolism in Neuronal Apoptosis.

Recent studies have shown that cellular levels of polyamines (PAs) are significantly altered in neurodegenerative diseases. Evidence from in vivo animal and in vitro cell experiments suggests that the cellular levels of various PAs may play important roles in the central nervous system through the regulation of oxidative stress, mitochondrial metabolism, cellular immunity, and ion channel functions. Dysfunction of PA metabolism related enzymes also contributes to neuronal injury and cognitive impairment in many neurodegenerative diseases.

Objective: Both sequential embryo transfer (SeET) and double-blastocyst transfer (DBT) can serve as embryo transfer strategies for women with recurrent implantation failure (RIF). This study aims to compare the effects of SeET and DBT on pregnancy outcomes.

Methods: Totally, 261 frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles of 243 RIF women were included in this multicenter retrospective analysis.

This study was to investigate the potential causal impact of genetically predicted levels of magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), selenium (Se), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), and omega-3 (ω-3) on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and its associated risk factors. A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted.

Postpartum depression and partner support during the period of lactation: Correlation research and its influencing factors.

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) not only affects the psychological and physiological aspects of maternal health but can also affect neonatal growth and development. Partners who are in close contact with parturient women play a key role in communication and emotional support. This study explores the PPD support relationship with partners and its influencing factors, which is believed to establish psychological well-being and improve maternal partner support.

Renal agenesis represents the most severe form of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract. Bilateral renal agenesis is almost invariably fatal at birth and has high genetic heterogeneity. Here we report on a Chinese family with two pregnancies affected by a prenatal form of bilateral renal agenesis.

A Case of Rectal Endometriosis Misdiagnosed as Rectal Malignancy on Three Colonoscopies and Biopsies Sharing a Combined Literature Review.

Background: Endometriosis involves the intestine, and its clinical manifestations are nonspecific and lack of etiological manifestations. The diagnosis is difficult, which often leads to misdiagnosis. We report a case of endometriosis which was misdiagnosed as intestinal malignant tumor after colonoscopy and three biopsies.

Glioblastoma is the most lethal primary brain tumor with glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) atop a cellular hierarchy. GSCs often reside in a perivascular niche, where they receive maintenance cues from endothelial cells, but the role of heterogeneous endothelial cell populations remains unresolved. Here, we show that lymphatic endothelial-like cells (LECs), while previously unrecognized in brain parenchyma, are present in glioblastomas and promote growth of CCR7-positive GSCs through CCL21 secretion.

Development and validation of models for predicting preterm birth and gestational latency following emergency cervical cerclage: A multicenter cohort study.

Introduction: Emergency cervical cerclage is a recognized method for preventing mid-trimester pregnancy loss and premature birth; however, its benefits remain controversial. This study aimed to establish preoperative models predicting preterm birth and gestational latency following emergency cervical cerclage in singleton pregnant patients with a high risk of preterm birth.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from patients who received emergency cerclage between 2015 and 2023 in three institutions.

Postpartum pain and the risk of postpartum depression: A meta-analysis of observational studies.

Objective: This meta-analysis of observational studies aimed to derive a more precise estimation of the relationship between postpartum pain and postpartum depression (PPD).

Methods: A systematic literature search was completed in the following databases from inception to September 26, 2022: PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science. Quality evaluation of each study was achieved through Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS) assessment.

Prenatal Exposure to Heavy Metals and Adverse Birth Outcomes: Evidence From an E-Waste Area in China.

Electronic waste that has not been properly treated can lead to environmental contamination including of heavy metals, which can pose risks to human health. Infants, a sensitive group, are highly susceptible to heavy metals exposure. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between prenatal heavy metal exposure and infant birth outcomes in an e-waste recycling area in China.

Is platelet to lymphocyte ratio predictive of preeclampsia? A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: To evaluate the value of the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in predicting preeclampsia (PE) in pregnant women.

Methods: PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science databases were searched for observational studies (cohort, case-control or cross-sectional) that reported pre-treatment maternal PLR values in women with and without PE. The analysis was done using a random effects model.

Effect of single intravenous injection of esketamine on quality of recovery during early period after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer: A retrospective study.

Objective: To assess the impact of a single esketamine intravenous (IV) injection on the quality of recovery during early period after modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer.

Methods: This retrospective study included 80 patients who underwent modified radical mastectomy under general anesthesia in Huzhou Maternity & Child Health Care Hospital from March to October 2022. All patients were between 35 to 55 years, weighting between 45 and 70 kg and Grade-I or II according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

Associations between maternal occupational exposures and pregnancy outcomes among Chinese nurses: a nationwide study.

Background: Several studies have provided evidence about adverse pregnancy outcomes of nurses involved in occupational exposure. However, the pregnancy outcomes among nurses in middle-income countries are not well demonstrated. The main aim of this study is to present the prevalence and influencing factors of pregnancy outcomes among female nurses in China.

Effects of Transdermal 17β-Estradiol + Norethisterone Acetate on Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors in Postmenopausal Women: A Meta-analysis of Data From Randomized, Controlled Trials.

Purpose: To date, no study has demonstrated the role of transdermal 17β-estradiol + norethisterone acetate on all of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women. To overcome this knowledge gap, a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to determine the effects of this combination treatment on BMI, body weight, waist/hip ratio, fibrinogen, factor VII, lipoprotein(a), fasting blood sugar, insulin, HbA, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, and TC in postmenopausal women.

Methods: PubMed/Medline, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar were searched for relevant articles published between the inception of each database and April 6, 2023.

Women with preeclampsia may have reduced risk of breast cancer: a meta-analysis of cohort studies with 7.8 million participants.

This review pooled data from the literature to examine the association between preeclampsia (PE) and subsequent risk of breast cancer in women. Cohort studies published in the databases of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science up to 18 July 2023 were searched. Adjusted data were pooled to obtain the risk ratio (RR).
