Aim: In order to investigate the effect of cycling wheelchair training as an exercise for aged 65+ disabled patients on cognitive function, quality of life, aerobic capacity and physiological parameters.

Methods: Participants in nursing home performed cycling wheelchair training for 30 min a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 4 weeks. The main outcome measure was the short form 12 survey (SF-12).

Continuous steering movement (CSM) is an essential component of the upper extremity (UE) task during vehicle driving, and could be a suitable candidate for multi-joint rehabilitation programs for patients with UE disabilities. This study aims to evaluate the UE muscle activation during CSM and how the rotating speed and direction affect CSM's kinematic and kinetic performance. Surface electromyography (EMG), hand contact information, and steering torque were measured under fast (180°/s) and slow (60°/s) constant-velocity CSM to reveal the activation of shoulder and elbow muscles, temporal characteristics, and force exertion during the stance and swing phases of a CSM cycle.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 520 patients with cN0 UTUC in a single tertiary referral center from 2000 to 2015. The patients were divided into three groups: patients with and without pathologically proved lymph node metastasis (pN1-3 and pN0, respectively) and patients without LND (pNx).

Application of Edge Computing in Structural Health Monitoring of Simply Supported PCI Girder Bridges.

This study proposes an innovative method for structural health monitoring of simply supported PCI girder bridges based on dynamic strain and edge computing. Field static and dynamic load tests were conducted on a bridge consisting of a span with newly replaced PCI girders and numerous spans with old PCI girders. Both the static and dynamic test results showed that the flexural rigidity of the old PCI girders decreased significantly due to deterioration.

Preclinical studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of extracellular vesicles in the treatment of heart, kidney, liver, brain, and skin injuries. To address the putative therapeutic effects and mechanisms of extracellular vesicles derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells on allergic activation in mast cells, we isolated extracellular vesicles from human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) by tangential-flow filtration methods.

Primary intestinal T-cell lymphomas (PITLs) comprise enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL), monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T-cell lymphoma (MEITL), extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), and intestinal T cell lymphoma, NOS (ITCL-NOS). MEITL is composed of monomorphic medium cells expressing CD8 and CD56, with a cytotoxic phenotype. We retrospectively analyzed 77 cases of intestinal T-cell lymphomas, 71 primary and six secondary, at a tertiary center in Taiwan from 2001 to 2021.

Intravoxel Incoherent Motion-Diffusion-Weighted MRI for Investigation of Delayed Graft Function Immediately after Kidney Transplantation.

Purpose: A non-invasive way of assessing post-transplant renal graft function has been needed. This study aimed to assess the micro-structural and micro-functional status of graft kidneys by using intravoxel incoherent motion- (IVIM-) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) to investigate delayed graft function (DGF) immediately after transplantation.

Method: A prospective study was conducted on 37 patients, 14 with early graft function (EGF) and 23 with DGF (9 with complication, 14 without) who underwent IVIM-DWI, most often within 1-7 days after kidney transplantation.

Our previous studies demonstrated that collapsin response mediator protein 2 (CRMP2) is associated with obesity and, in addition, that hyperglycemia-suppressed CRMP2 augments malignant traits of colorectal cancer and is associated with advanced tumor stage. Regulation of CRMP2 profile was further explored in this study using 3T3-L1 pre-adipocyte adipogenesis as a study model for illustrating the roles of CRMP2 in metabolic homeostasis. Hyperglycemia inhibited expression of CRMP2, adipogenic machinery and adipocyte markers.
