Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil (FO) and selenium (Se) potentiate some conventional therapies and have anticancer immune potential. This study aims to determine whether FO/Se modulates G-protein-coupled polyunsaturated fatty acid receptors (GPR-40 and GPR-120) and selenoproteins (Sel-H, Sel-W, and GPx4), and increases the therapeutic effect of doxorubicin in a dose-dependent manner on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) mouse. Mice were randomized into 5 groups (n = 7/group) and treated with physiological saline (control), low-dose doxorubicin, and doxorubicin in combination with low, medium, or high doses of FO/Se.

Homogeneous Chronic Subdural Hematoma with Diverse Recurrent Possibilities.

Diagnostics (Basel)

November 2022

Department of Biotechnology and Animal Science, College of Bioresources, National Ilan University, Yilan 26047, Taiwan.

Evidence suggests that hyperdense (HD) chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) have a higher recurrence than hypodense (LD) chronic subdural hematomas. The value of mean hematoma density (MHD) has been proven to be associated with postoperative recurrence. The MHD levels in homogeneous CSDHs likely underestimate the risk of recurrence in HD homogeneous subtypes.

Background: Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is a rare but potentially devastating cause of severe spinal cord compression and degenerative cervical myelopathy. Because OPLL is rarely accompanied by prominent syringomyelia, when both are observed, other causes of syringomyelia should be considered. Simultaneous presentation of OPLL and hemangioblastoma of the cervical spine is a rare encounter and has never been reported in the English-language literature.
