Cultural adaptation of positive behavioral interventions and supports tier 1 in a Chinese elementary school.

Sch Psychol

December 2024

Cognition and Human Behavior Key Laboratory of Hunan Province, School of Education Science, Hunan Normal University.

Research has shown the positive effects of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) on student outcomes. Despite its effectiveness, there is limited research on the cultural adaptation of PBIS in other cultures, especially in Asia. Based on cultural adaptation frameworks, the current case study reports the cultural adaptation and implementation process of PBIS Tier 1 in a Chinese elementary school, including the steps and strategies in its engagement, design, and implementation.

In recent years, "black swan" events have increasingly occurred across climate, epidemics, geopolitics, and economics, leading to a gradual coupling of different types of risk. Different from isolated shocks as a single type of risk affecting a specific industry, a nexus of risks allows one risk area to quickly relate to others, resulting in more catastrophic impacts. Utilizing an integrated framework, we investigate the contagion effects among climate policy uncertainty, the infectious disease equity market volatility tracker, geopolitical risk, and economic policy uncertainty using volatility, skewness, and kurtosis as risk measures.

Generative named entity recognition framework for Chinese legal domain.

PeerJ Comput Sci

November 2024

School of Computer Science and Engineering, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China.

Named entity recognition (NER) is a crucial task in natural language processing, particularly challenging in the legal domain due to the intricate and lengthy nature of legal entities. Existing methods often struggle with accurately identifying entity boundaries and types in legal texts. To address these challenges, we propose a novel sequence-to-sequence framework designed specifically for the legal domain.

The combined metabolism and transcriptome of tail muscles reveal the effects of antimony pulse exposure on swimming behavior of Pelophylax nigromaculatus tadpoles.

Sci Total Environ

January 2025

College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, Loudi 417000, Hunan, China; Key Laboratory of Development, Utilization, Quality and Safety Control of Characteristic Agricultural Resources in Central Hunan Province, Loudi 417000, Hunan, China. Electronic address:

Due to the periodic emission of pollutants, the exposure mode of contaminants in water bodies is mostly pulse exposure, and the toxic effects of fluctuating exposure on aquatic animals are not consistent with traditional toxicological experiments of constant exposure. The toxic effects of heavy metal antimony (Sb) on the swimming behavior of Pelophylax nigromaculatus tadpoles after pulse exposure (PESb) and continuous exposure (CESb) for 28 days were explored. The mechanisms were analyzed from the perspectives of tail muscle metabolism and transcriptomics.

Department of Endocrinology, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, 87 Xiangya Road, Changsha, Hunan, 410008, China.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), formerly known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is becoming the most common chronic liver disease. The gut microbiome is regarded to play a crucial role in MAFLD, but the specific changes of gut microbiome, especially fungi, in different stages of MAFLD are not well understood. This study aimed to observe the longitudinal changes of colon bacteria and fungi of mice at different feeding duration of a high-fat and high-fructose diet (HFHFD), and explore the association between the changes and the progression of MAFLD.

Refined design of a DNA logic gate for implementing a DNA-based three-level circuit.

Nanoscale

December 2024

Department of Urology, Hunan Cancer Hospital/The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, China.

DNA computing circuits are favored by researchers because of their high density, high parallelism, and biocompatibility. However, compared with electronic circuits, current DNA circuits have significant errors in understanding the OFF state and logic "0". Nowadays, DNA circuits only have two input states: logic "0" and logic "1", where logic "0" also means the OFF state.

Time series analysis predicts the future based on existing historical data and has a wide range of applications in finance, economics, meteorology, biology, engineering, and other fields. Although the combination of decomposition techniques and machine learning algorithms can effectively solve the problem of predicting nonstationary sequences, this kind of decomposition-integration-prediction strategy of the prediction method has serious defects. After the decomposition of the division of the training set and the test set, the information of the test set in the process of decomposition of the information leakage ultimately shows a high accuracy of the prediction of the illusionary.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignant tumor that poses a significant threat to human health due to rising incidence and mortality rates. In recent years, immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy, represented by Programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1), T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), and others, has been widely applied in CRC and has achieved encouraging results in some patients and has become a hot topic in both clinical and basic research.

Objective: This study undertakes a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of ICB research in CRC, aiming to evaluate the current status, identify future trends, and provide scientific insights for researchers and decision-makers.

  • Brain imaging research shows that congenital amusia in non-tonal language speakers has neural deficits in the connectivity between the auditory cortex and the right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG).
  • This study explored the functional connectivity (FC) related to amusia in Mandarin speakers using resting-state fMRI, revealing increased connectivity in specific temporal regions but reduced connectivity between Heschl's gyri (HG) and IFG.
  • The findings link music perception issues in amusia with altered connectivity patterns, showing that lower music perception scores correspond to weaker connectivity between the left HG and right IFG in Mandarin speakers.

College of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, State Key Laboratory for Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics, Hunan University, Changsha, Hunan, 410082, China.

Mature microRNAs play crucial roles in tumorigenesis and progression. However, their potential as cancer biomarkers is limited by the sequence interference of precursor microRNAs and the occurrence of false positive signals mediated by single microRNAs. Herein, we reported a dual mature microRNA-responsive second-order (YES-AND) logic biosensing platform for accurate cancer diagnosis.
