Highly efficient LaMO (M = Co, Fe) perovskites catalyzed Fenton's reaction for degradation of direct blue 86.

Environ Res

June 2023

Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Fine Ceramics and Powder Materials, School of Materials and Environmental Engineering, Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, Loudi, Hunan, 417000, China.

Perovskite-structured catalysts LaMO (M = Co, Fe) were successfully synthesized and attempted to catalyze hydrogen peroxide (HO) for the degradation of Direct Blue 86 (DB86), a carcinogenic phthalocyanine dye. The heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction revealed that the oxidative power of the LaCoO-catalyzed HO (LaCoO/HO) process was higher than that of LaFeO/HO. When LaCoO was calcined at 750 °C for 5 h, 100 mg/L of DB86 could be completely degraded within 5 min via LaCoO/HO system under HO 0.

March 2023

Modern Industry School of Advanced Ceramics, Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Fine Ceramics and Powder Materials, School of Materials and Environmental Engineering, Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, Loudi 417000, China.

The thermal stability of the polyethylene (PE) separator is of utmost importance for the safety of lithium-ion batteries. Although the surface coating of PE separator with oxide nanoparticles can improve thermal stability, some serious problems still exist, such as micropore blockage, easy detaching, and introduction of excessive inert substances, which negatively affects the power density, energy density, and safety performance of the battery. In this paper, TiO nanorods are used to modify the surface of the PE separator, and multiple analytical techniques (e.

The detrimental "shuttling effect" of lithium polysulfides and the sluggish kinetics of the sulfur redox reaction in lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) impede the practical application. Considering the high polar chemistry facilitates the anchoring of polysulfides, ferroelectric materials have gradually been employed as functionalized separators to suppress the "shuttling effect". Herein, a functional separator coated with BaTiO with a macroscopic polarization electric field (poled-BaTiO) is designed for retarding the problematic shuttle effect and accelerating redox kinetics.

A New Stress-Based Formulation for Modeling Notched Fiber-Reinforced Laminates.

Polymers (Basel)

December 2022

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Design and Manufacture for Vehicle Body, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China.

Laminated plates are often modeled with infinite dimensions in terms of the so-called Whitney-Nuismer (WN) stress criteria, which form a theoretical basis for predicting the residual properties of open-hole structures. Based upon the WN stress criteria, this study derived a new formulation involving finite width; the effects of notch shape and size on the applicability of new formulae and the tensile properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates were investigated via experimental and theoretical analyses. The specimens were prepared by using laminates reinforced by plain woven carbon fiber fabrics and machined with or without an open circular hole or a straight notch.

Previous studies that explored the impact of task-related variables on translation performance focused on task complexity but reported inconsistent findings. This study shows that, to understand the effect of task complexity on translation process and its end product, performance in translation tasks of various complexity levels needs to be compared in a specific setting, in which more factors are considered besides task complexity-especially students' translating self-efficacy belief (TSEB). Data obtained from screen recording, subjective rating, semi-structured interview, and quality evaluation were triangulated to measure how task complexity influenced the translation performance of Chinese students with high and low TSEB.

Critical Thicknesses of Free-Standing Thin Films of Molten Polymers: A Multiscale Simulation Study.

J Phys Chem B

September 2022

Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Fine Ceramics and Powder Materials, School of Materials and Environmental Engineering, Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, Loudi 417000, Hunan, P. R. China.

The free-standing thin films of melted poly(ethylene oxide) have been extensively simulated by the chemically specific coarse-grained (CG) molecular dynamics (MD) method. It is revealed that if the polymer thin film becomes thinner than some critical value, it would initially turn into a fiber, accompanied by an increase in the free surface area and a decrease in surface tension. A simple but efficient scheme is proposed to determine the critical interfacial thickness and the film thickness from the non-intrinsic density and pressure profiles, and the ratio of the two thicknesses is defined as the interfacial fraction.
