Perovskite-structured catalysts LaMO (M = Co, Fe) were successfully synthesized and attempted to catalyze hydrogen peroxide (HO) for the degradation of Direct Blue 86 (DB86), a carcinogenic phthalocyanine dye. The heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction revealed that the oxidative power of the LaCoO-catalyzed HO (LaCoO/HO) process was higher than that of LaFeO/HO. When LaCoO was calcined at 750 °C for 5 h, 100 mg/L of DB86 could be completely degraded within 5 min via LaCoO/HO system under HO 0.

The thermal stability of the polyethylene (PE) separator is of utmost importance for the safety of lithium-ion batteries. Although the surface coating of PE separator with oxide nanoparticles can improve thermal stability, some serious problems still exist, such as micropore blockage, easy detaching, and introduction of excessive inert substances, which negatively affects the power density, energy density, and safety performance of the battery. In this paper, TiO nanorods are used to modify the surface of the PE separator, and multiple analytical techniques (e.

The detrimental "shuttling effect" of lithium polysulfides and the sluggish kinetics of the sulfur redox reaction in lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) impede the practical application. Considering the high polar chemistry facilitates the anchoring of polysulfides, ferroelectric materials have gradually been employed as functionalized separators to suppress the "shuttling effect". Herein, a functional separator coated with BaTiO with a macroscopic polarization electric field (poled-BaTiO) is designed for retarding the problematic shuttle effect and accelerating redox kinetics.

STD1 specifically interacts with MAP65-5 in rice and they cooperatively control microtubule bundles in phragmoplast expansion during cell division. Microtubules play critical roles during the cell cycle progression in the plant cell. We previously reported that STEMLESS DWARF 1 (STD1), a kinesin-related protein, was localized specifically to the phragmoplast midzone during telophase to regulate the lateral expansion of phragmoplast in rice (Oryza sativa).

This study was conducted to determine the response of the reproductive hormones and the mTOR/AKT/PI3K pathway in the ovaries of postpartum dairy cows with dietary rumen-protected glucose (RPG). Twelve Holstein cows were randomly assigned to two groups (n = 6/group): the control group (CT) and the RPG group. Blood samples were collected on d 1, 7, and 14 after calving for the gonadal hormone assay.

Fruit cracking seriously affects the commercial value of table grapes. To explore whether cell wall disassembly influences grape berry cracking, first, the differences in the cell wall metabolism were compared between cracking-resistant "Shennongjinhuanghou" (SN) and cracking-susceptible "Xiangfei" (XF) varieties. Our results showed that cell wall disassembly events were extremely different between "SN" and "XF.

Laminated plates are often modeled with infinite dimensions in terms of the so-called Whitney-Nuismer (WN) stress criteria, which form a theoretical basis for predicting the residual properties of open-hole structures. Based upon the WN stress criteria, this study derived a new formulation involving finite width; the effects of notch shape and size on the applicability of new formulae and the tensile properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates were investigated via experimental and theoretical analyses. The specimens were prepared by using laminates reinforced by plain woven carbon fiber fabrics and machined with or without an open circular hole or a straight notch.

Previous studies that explored the impact of task-related variables on translation performance focused on task complexity but reported inconsistent findings. This study shows that, to understand the effect of task complexity on translation process and its end product, performance in translation tasks of various complexity levels needs to be compared in a specific setting, in which more factors are considered besides task complexity-especially students' translating self-efficacy belief (TSEB). Data obtained from screen recording, subjective rating, semi-structured interview, and quality evaluation were triangulated to measure how task complexity influenced the translation performance of Chinese students with high and low TSEB.

Antimony (Sb) is a dangerous heavy metal (HM) that poses a serious threat to the health of plants, animals, and humans. Leaching from mining wastes and weathering of sulfide ores are the major ways of introducing Sb into our soils and aquatic environments. Crops grown on Sb-contaminated soils are a major reason of Sb entry into humans by eating Sb-contaminated foods.

A multi-functional nanoflares biosensor of spherical gold nanoparticle (Au NP) modified by fluorophore-labeled oligonucleotides (ONS) was designed for ultra-sensitive multi-target mycotoxin analysis in food. Au NP was densely modified with multiplex highly oriented hairpins of oligonucleotides (ONS), each ONS was hybridized to a reporter with a distinct fluorophore label and specifically affiliative to its corresponding mycotoxin target. The fluorescent signals of reporters were pre-quenched by Au NP based on ONS hairpin structures and recovered when exposed to ONS's targets.

First-principles calculations were performed to investigate the site preference of alloying elements, and the effect of alloying elements on stability, electronic structure and magnetism of NiP-type FeB. The calculated energies suggested that all studied compounds are thermodynamically stable while it is relatively difficult to synthesize the (Fe,Cu)B, (Fe,W)B and (Fe,Nb)B. The (Fe,W)B is the most stable compound from the view of cohesive energy.

The effects of the addition of different amounts (0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%) of Oudemansiella raphanipies powder (ORP) to lower-fat pork batter on its physicochemical, textural and rheological properties, water distribution and protein conformation were evaluated. The results showed that the addition of ORP from 0% to 4% significantly decreased the pH and L* value of pork batter (p < 0.05); however, it also increased the a* value and enhanced the cooking yield of pork batter from 77% to 92%.

Wounds, particularly under low-hydration conditions, require more time to repair successfully. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop wound dressings that can accelerate wound healing. Hydrogels, which can maintain a moist environment around the wound and allow gas to pass through the material, act as antibacterial hydrogels as dressings and have great application value in the treatment of wounds.

The free-standing thin films of melted poly(ethylene oxide) have been extensively simulated by the chemically specific coarse-grained (CG) molecular dynamics (MD) method. It is revealed that if the polymer thin film becomes thinner than some critical value, it would initially turn into a fiber, accompanied by an increase in the free surface area and a decrease in surface tension. A simple but efficient scheme is proposed to determine the critical interfacial thickness and the film thickness from the non-intrinsic density and pressure profiles, and the ratio of the two thicknesses is defined as the interfacial fraction.
