The evaluation of the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has long been a "bottleneck" issue that restricts the healthy development and internationalization of TCM. This article systematically analyzes the differences in diagnostic and treatment principles, material composition, new drug development pathways, efficacy cognition, and evaluation methodology between Chinese and Western medicine from the underlying logic of medical perspective. On this basis, it integrates the evidence elements of clinical experience, experimental research, and clinical trials, and for the first time proposes and establishes a new strategy and methodology for the evaluation of the effectiveness of TCM: the integrated evidence chain-based effectiveness evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine(iEC-Eff), forming an integrated evaluation and confirmation model of "clinical experience-experimental research-clinical trial" for the effectiveness of TCM.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is a condition in which the joints are in a weakly acidic environment. In RA, RA fibroblastlike synoviocytes( RAFLS) in the joints become abnormally activated and secrete a large amount of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs), and the receptor protein CD44 on the cell membrane is specifically upregulated. Xuetongsu(XTS), an active ingredient in the Tujia ethnomedicine Xuetong, is known to inhibit the proliferation of RAFLS.

Ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction(VRAMI) is a pathological phenomenon triggered by the abrupt occlusion of coronary arteries, leading to myocardial ischemia and hypoxia. This intricate process encompasses alterations in the dimensions, composition, and elasticity of the ventricular tissue and reflects pathophysiological reactions and self-repair after cardiomyocytes are damaged. The characteristic pathological manifestation of VRAMI is the presence of myocardial fibrosis(MF), wherein fibrotic cardiac tissue undergoes a loss of contractile and relaxation capacity, ultimately culminating in heart failure(HF) and significantly impacting the patient's prognosis.

Chronic heart failure(CHF) is a severe cardiovascular disease characterized by a complex pathogenesis involving myocardial structural and functional abnormalities and the activation of inflammatory responses. The NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain-associated protein 3(NLRP3) inflammasome, acting as a sensor for inflammatory cells, plays a pivotal role in the development of CHF. Research indicates that the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome can induce inflammatory responses, leading to cardiac inflammation and impairing myocardial function, and it is correlated with the severity of CHF.
