The study developed polyethyleneimine modified magnetic core-shell nanoparticles (FeO@SiO/PEI) for removing anionic dyes from water.
The adsorption of Methyl orange (MO) and Congo red (CR) was influenced by pH, with maximum capacities of 231.0 mg/g at pH 4 for MO and 134.6 mg/g at pH 6 for CR.
The adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Freundlich isotherm model, primarily driven by electrostatic attraction between the dye molecules and the nanoparticle surfaces.
