Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel condition, and colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), as one of the most prevalent malignant tumors of the digestive tract, has been indicated by research to have a close association with CD. This study employs bioinformatics techniques to uncover the potential molecular links between CD and COAD. In this study, two data series related to CD were identified from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database under specific criteria, and relevant COAD gene data were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Electric vehicles are increasingly popular for their environmental benefits and cost savings, but the reliability and safety of their lithium-ion batteries are critical concerns. Current regression methods for battery fault detection often analyze charging and discharging as a single continuous process, missing important phase differences. This paper proposes segmented regression to better capture these distinct characteristics for accurate fault detection.

Recent advances have uncovered an exotic sliding ferroelectric mechanism, which endows to design atomically thin ferroelectrics from non-ferroelectric parent monolayers. Although notable progress has been witnessed in understanding the fundamental properties, functional devices based on sliding ferroelectrics remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate the rewritable, non-volatile memories at room-temperature with a two-dimensional (2D) sliding ferroelectric semiconductor of rhombohedral-stacked bilayer MoS.

College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing National Laboratory of Microstructures, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Artificial Functional Materials, Nanjing University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

Functional nanomaterials with enzyme-mimicking activities, termed as nanozymes, have found wide applications in various fields. However, the deviation between the working and optimal pHs of nanozymes has been limiting their practical applications. Here we develop a strategy to modulate the microenvironmental pHs of metal-organic framework (MOF) nanozymes by confining polyacids or polybases (serving as Brønsted acids or bases).

This study presents a targeted dual-acid preservation strategy for ready-to-eat crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), integrating a blend of phytic and lactic acids to fortify key sensory attributes throughout the storage phase. The primary objective was to maintain the sensory attributes of the crayfish during a 30-day storage period under 40 °C. Our approach significantly bolstered color retention by suppressing Maillard reactions and lipid oxidation, thereby maintaining the product's visual allure.

Reconfigurable Amphiphilic DNA Nanotweezer for Targeted Delivery of Therapeutic Oligonucleotides.

ACS Cent Sci

December 2024

Molecular Science and Biomedicine Laboratory (MBL), State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics, FuRong Laboratory, College of Biology, Hunan University, Changsha, Hunan 410082, China.

Amphiphilic lipid oligonucleotide conjugates are powerful molecular-engineering materials that have been used for delivery of therapeutic oligonucleotides. However, conventional lipid oligonucleotide conjugates suffer from poor selectivity to target cells due to the nonspecific interaction between lipid tails and cell membranes. Herein, a reconfigurable DNA nanotweezer consisting of a c-Met aptamer and bischolesterol-modified antisense oligonucleotide was designed for c-Met-targeted delivery of therapeutic antisense oligonucleotides.

Fatigue cracking of rib-to-deck conventional single-sided welded joints is a prevalent issue in orthotropic steel decks (OSDs), significantly impacting their structural integrity and durability. Rib-to-deck innovative double-sided welded joints have the potential to enhance the fatigue resistance of OSD. However, Welding Residual Stresses (WRS) significantly influence the fatigue life of these joints, mandating its consideration in fatigue assessments.

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Bio-Sensing and Chemometrics, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan University, Changsha, 410082, China. Electronic address:

Herein, we present a colorimetric sensing strategy for the identification and quantification of tumor-associated miRNAs based on dual DNAzyme amplification. In this sensing ensemble, the substrate portion of the Pb-dependent 8-17 DNAzyme combines with the G-quadruplex portion to form a hairpin substrate strand. The two split 8-17 DNAzyme strands are partially complementary to the substrate strand and serve as a recognition unit for binding the target miRNA.

School of Electrical and Information, Hunan University, Changsha, 410083, China.

Accurately predicting solar power to ensure the economical operation of microgrids and smart grids is a key challenge for integrating the large scale photovoltaic (PV) generation into conventional power systems. This paper proposes an accurate short-term solar power forecasting method using a hybrid machine learning algorithm, with the system trained using the pre-trained extreme learning machine (P-ELM) algorithm. The proposed method utilizes temperature, irradiance, and solar power output at instant i as input parameters, while the output parameters are temperature, irradiance, and solar power output at instant i+1, enabling next-day solar power output forecasting.
