Objective: To probe the involvement of long noncoding RNA zinc finger antisense 1 (ZFAS1)/microRNA (miR)-186-5p axis in inhibiting oxidative stress in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) by targeting B-cell translocation gene 2 (BTG2).
Methods: The MIRI mice model was established by ligating the left anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery in C57BL/6 mice. The in vitro MIRI model was constructed by hypoxia and reoxygenation of HL-1 cardiomyocytes.

Background And Aims: Cardiac glycosides (CGs), traditionally used for heart failure, have shown potential as anti-cancer agents. This study aims to explore their multifaceted mechanisms in cancer cell biology using proteome integral solubility alteration (PISA), focusing on the interaction with key proteins implicated in cellular metabolism and mitochondrial function.
Methods: We conducted lysate-based and intact-cell PISA assays on cancer cells treated with CGs (Digoxin, Digitoxin, Ouabain) to analyze protein solubility changes.

Evidence for the treatment of patients with mild-to-moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is limited. The efficacy of N-acetylcysteine (an antioxidant and mucolytic agent) for patients with mild-to-moderate COPD is uncertain. In this multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we randomly assigned 968 patients with mild-to-moderate COPD to treatment with N-acetylcysteine (600 mg, twice daily) or matched placebo for two years.

Background: TK1 (Thymidine kinase 1) is a member of the thymidine kinase family and has been observed to be significantly upregulated in a variety of cancer types. However, the exact roles of TK1 in tumor progression and the tumor immune microenvironment are not fully understood. This study aims to investigate the comprehensive involvement of TK1 in pan-cancer through the utilization of bioinformatics analysis, validation of pathological tissue samples, and in vitro experimental investigations.

Benzophenone-3 (BP-3), commonly used in personal care products, is routinely detected in environmental and human matrices. Evidence delineates a correlation between gestational BP-3 exposure and emotional and social disorders in children and adolescents. However, sensitive target cells and the mode of action underlying the early responses to environmentally relevant level of BP-3 exposure remain unclear.

ATAD2 (ATPase Family AAA Domain-Containing 2) is highly expressed across varies tumor types, yet its common roles in tumor progression and immune interaction remain unclear. We analyzed the expression and alteration profiles of ATAD2, along with its diagnostic and prognostic role in pan-cancer, utilizing TCGA, GTEx, CPTAC, HPA, and cBioPortal databases. Furthermore, we examined the relationship between ATAD2 and immune infiltration utilizing single-cell sequencing data and TCGA database.

Alzheimer disease (AD), as the main type of dementia, is primarily characterized by cognitive dysfunction across multiple domains. Current drugs for AD have not achieved the desired clinical efficacy due to potential risks, inapplicability, high costs, significant side effects, and poor patient compliance. However, recent findings offer new hope by suggesting that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) may possess neuroprotective properties, potentially opening up novel avenues for the treatment of AD.

Aim: There is an ongoing debate regarding the influence of psychological interventions on glycemic control in middle-aged and elderly patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. To establish evidence-based medical support for the therapeutic application of these interventions, this meta-analysis seeks to assess the impact of psychological interventions on glycemic control in middle-aged and elderly individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: This study systematically searched six electronic databases for randomized controlled studies of psychological interventions applied to middle-aged and elderly patients with type 2 diabetes, and the search time frames were all from the time of database creation to the search period from the establishment to March 2023.

Glycosylation, a key mode of protein modification in living organisms, is critical in regulating various biological functions by influencing protein folding, transportation, and localization. Changes in glycosylation patterns are a significant feature of cancer, are associated with a range of pathological activities in cancer-related processes, and serve as critical biomarkers providing new targets for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Glycoproteins like human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) for breast cancer, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) for liver cancer, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) for colon cancer, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for prostate cancer are all tumor biomarkers approved for clinical use.
