Purpose: With the rising number of elderly surgical patients, selecting an appropriate anesthetic tailored to their specific needs is essential. Ciprofol, a novel intravenous anesthetic, has garnered attention due to its low injection pain rate and minimal impact on the circulatory system. This meta-analysis aims to examine the efficacy and safety profile of ciprofol during perioperative management of elderly patients.

Worldwide, gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is recognized as one of the leading malignancies diagnosed in both genders, with mortality largely attributed to metastatic dissemination. It has been identified that in GI cancer, a variety of signaling pathways and key molecules are modified, leading to the emergence of an immunotolerance phenotype. Such modifications are pivotal in the malignancy's evasion of immune detection.

The theory of channels and collaterals is a very important "substance" prop for the basic theories of TCM. After component model of substances of channels and collaterals is raised, according to the principle, structure and function are dialectical unity, the author finds in deeply research on a great number of completed experimental investigations of corresponding anatomic position of channels and collaterals and similar physiology at home and abroad that the difficult to understand TCM concepts such as "interdependence between yin and yang", "defensive energy" all could be displayed by the substance of body liquid showing liquid crystalline state during living of channels and collaterals.

Objective: To investigate effects of electroacupuncture on gastric mucosal intestinal trefoil factor (ITF) gene expression in the rat of gastric mucosal injury induced by stress.
Methods: Forty rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: blank group, model group, stomach channel group, gallbladder channel group. The normal group did not receive any processing, and the model group were fixed for 7 sessions and both the stomach channel group and the gallbladder channel group received 7 sessions of electro-acupuncture before modeling.

Objective: To observe effects of acupuncture on serum interleukin-1 (IL-1) and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) in the patient of cerebral infarction.
Methods: Eighty-two cases of cerebral infarction were randomly divided into a treatment group treated by balanced muscular tension needling method, and a control group by traditional needling method. The levels of serum IL-1, sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 were determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Hyperlipemia rabbit models established with high cholesterol and fat diet were treated with direct moxibustion and medicinal cake-separated moxibustion. The post-treatment plasma 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha (6-keto-PGF1alpha) and thromboxane B2 (TXB2) contents were determined by radioimmunoassay. Results indicated that the plasma 6-keto-PGF1alpha content significantly increased, the TXB2 level decreased (P < 0.

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanisms of effective ingredients of Astragalus-Salvia compound (ASC) in increasing placental blood supply, to provide thought for establishing an effective prevention and treatment of insufficient placental blood supply caused complications of pregnancy.
Methods: The effective ingredients of ASC was isolated and abstracted and the rat model of inhibited nitric oxide synthesis was established by using L-Arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor. The mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in placental trophocyte and primordial micrangial endothelial cell was determined by using in situ hybridization at 12th day of pregnancy.

Objective: To observe the effect of Qinggan Jiangtang tablet (QJT) in improving the insulin resistance (IR) in patients with multiple metabolic syndrome (MMS).
Methods: Adopting randomized controlled double-blinded method, 60 patients with MMS were divided equally into two groups. The treated group was treated by oral taking of QJT 3 tabs, twice a day and the control group treated by oral taking of Glucophage 3 tabs, twice a day, the therapeutic course for both groups was 1 month, and the observation lasted for 2 successive courses.

To directly express native recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli, a new expression vector pSB was constructed using Ssp DnaB mini-intein. Using the vector, native proteins could be produced with the help of C-terminal self-cleavage of the intein. In this study, we cloned hIFNalpha-4 gene into pSB and used E.

Objective: To compare the effects of Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) and its active regions combination on brain heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) expression.
Methods: Cerebral ischemia model gerbils produced by ligating bilateral common carotid artery were injected intraperitoneally by BYHWD and its active regions combination separately. HSP70 mRNA expression was determined by Northern blot test and protein expression determined by Western blot test 48 hrs after ischemia for 15 min and reperfusion.

The local defence mechanism of peritoneal cavity plays an important role in preventing peritonitis during peritoneal dialysis. In this experiment, the effect of Shenmai injection (SI) on the defence mechanism was studied in the remnant kidney model. The results showed that the SI which was added into dialysate could significantly increase the concentration of IgG, C3 in peritoneal cavity (P < 0.

Sanchaning is an empirial prescription in treating primary trigeminal neuralgia (PTN). Pills of this prescription have been applied to animal models in an experimental study and their effects were compared with that of distilled water as well as carbamazepine, a common Western medicine for curing PTN. The indexes, including the attack number of PTN of the model animals, the duration of the spontaneous reaction and the positive time of the induced response, showed that Sanchaning differed significantly from distilled water in treating PTN (P < 0.

Following the principle of Syndrome study in TCM, parallel control groups were set up according to "the same disease with different Syndromes" and "different disease with the same Syndrome", the significance on deformability of red blood cells and peripheral microcirculation analysis in "disease" and "Syndrome" diagnosis were explored. Results showed: the both parameters were not characteristics of "disease" diagnosis, but were characteristics of "Syndrome" diagnosis. It suggested that: both "disease" and "Syndrome" reflected pathophysiological state of human body in disorder, and "Syndrome" is a highly condensed expression of this status.
