Electronic address:

To reveal the characteristics of indigenous microbiome including the pathogenic-related ones on Angkor monuments in Cambodia and the distribution pattern of resistome at different locations, several sites, namely Angkor Wat, Bayon of Angkor Thom, and Prasat Preah Vihear with different exposure levels to tourists were selected to conduct the metagenomic analysis in this study. The general characteristics of the microbiome on these monuments were revealed, and the association between the environmental geo-ecological feature and the indigenous microbiome was delineated. The most common microbial groups included 6 phyla, namely Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Nitrospirae, Proteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia on the monuments, but Firmicutes and Chlamydiae were the most dominant phyla found in bats droppings.

Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University, AIER Mansion, No. 188 South Furong Road, Changsha, 410000, Hunan Province, China.

Over the last two decades, the prevalence of myopia has gradually increased in China. Numerous epidemiological studies suggest that education and inadequate time spent outdoors are the major causes of the current myopia epidemic. China is one of the few countries that has begun to address the myopia epidemic with a national-level strategy, implementing nationwide education reform, cost-reduction measurements, and dissemination of information on myopia prevention and control.

Considering the significant role of magnetism induction in two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor materials, we systematically investigate the effects of various dopants from the 3d and 4d transition metal (TM) series, including Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag and Cd, on the electronic and magnetic properties of monolayer BS through first-principles calculations. The calculated formation energies indicate that substitutional doping at the B site with various TM atoms could be achieved under S-rich growth conditions. What matters is that with the exception of systems doped with Cu, Tc, and Ag elements, which exhibit non-magnetic semiconductor properties, all other doped systems demonstrate magnetism.

Role of adhesion molecules in cancer and targeted therapy.

Sci China Life Sci

May 2024

NHC Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Hunan Key Laboratory of Cancer Metabolism, Hunan Cancer Hospital and the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, 410000, China.

Adhesion molecules mediate cell-to-cell and cell-to-extracellular matrix interactions and transmit mechanical and chemical signals among them. Various mechanisms deregulate adhesion molecules in cancer, enabling tumor cells to proliferate without restraint, invade through tissue boundaries, escape from immune surveillance, and survive in the tumor microenvironment. Recent studies have revealed that adhesion molecules also drive angiogenesis, reshape metabolism, and are involved in stem cell self-renewal.

April 2024

Hubei Engineering Research Center for Clean Production and Pollutant Control of Oil and Gas Fields, College of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, Yangtze University, Jingzhou, 434023, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Fluorescence spectroscopy is effective in detecting polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) due to their natural fluorescence, but challenges arise from overlapping spectra and surfactants in oilfield produced water.
  • A novel approach using third-order calibration on four-dimensional (4D) fluorescence data was proposed to address these issues, particularly focusing on compounds like pyrene, fluorene, phenanthrene, and fluoranthene.
  • This method demonstrated improved accuracy and quantification of PAHs compared to traditional second-order calibration methods, offering a significant advancement for analyzing PAHs in complex water samples containing surfactants.

The prediction of potential microbe-drug associations is of great value for drug research and development, especially, methods, based on deep learning, have been achieved significant improvement in bio-medicine. In this manuscript, we proposed a novel computational model named NMGMDA based on the nuclear norm minimization and graph attention network to infer latent microbe-drug associations. Firstly, we created a heterogeneous microbe-drug network in NMGMDA by fusing the drug and microbe similarities with the established drug-microbe associations.
