Objectives: To assess the benefits and harms of interrupted anticoagulation (IAC) with either warfarin or DOAC in the perioperative period of CIED surgery versus uninterrupted anticoagulation (UAC), with or without heparin bridging, during an equivalent time frame, for CIED surgery.

Secondary amputation: a qualitative study of quality of life in patients after primary limb salvage surgery and after later ablative sarcoma treatment.

Objective: This study focuses on how patients experience the time following amputation after primary limb salvage surgery due to musculoskeletal malignancies. Limb salvage is state of the art in the treatment of musculoskeletal tumours. Nonetheless, in some cases, limb salvage can become problematic over time, resulting in poorer limb function and septic outcomes.

Background/purpose: Our previous study found that the integration of arts into the dental education through an innovative photomicrograph competition can increase the dental students' interests in learning microscopic lessons. This study aimed to validate whether the same photomicrograph competition still had its effectiveness to promote the students' interests in learning microscopic lessons.

Although writing feedback is widely believed to elicit a range of emotions, studies on the emotional experiences of L2 students with this teaching and learning tool, as well as their regulation strategies, remain largely underexplored. Drawing on the analytical framework of academic emotions from the perspective of positive psychology, this study examines two Chinese as foreign language (CFL) students' emotional reactions to their teacher's oral and written feedback and their emotion regulation strategies. The main data includes interviews, retrospective oral reports, students' reflection journals, academic writings, and teacher feedback.

Objective: Long-term care needs have grown with population aging. This study explores the relationships among health status, healthcare expenditure, and long-term care insurance (LTCI) among the older adults.

Methods: Using data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020) and based on the demand model for healthcare services, this study employed the difference-in-difference (DID) method to assess how the implementation of LTCI contributed to the health status and healthcare expenditures of the older adults.

Motivation and experiences of dentists of primary care dental clusters in Hungary: a qualitative inquiry.

Background: In recent years, dental clusters and networks have been established in primary care in many countries to improve access to services for the population and develop cooperation between providers. In Hungary, the first dental clusters were established in 2021, and currently, one-third of dental practices have already joined a cluster. The study aimed to gather and analyze early experiences regarding the motivation of participation in primary care dental clusters and experiences of implementation.

Pragmatic realism: towards a reconciliation of enactivism and realism.

This paper addresses some apparent philosophical tensions between realism and enactivism by means of Charles Peirce's pragmatism. Enactivism's Mind-Life Continuity thesis has been taken to commit it to some form of anti-realist 'world-construction' which has been considered controversial. Accordingly, a new realist enactivism is proposed by Zahidi ( (3), 461-475, 2014), drawing on Ian Hacking's 'entity realism', which places subjects in worlds comprised of the things that they can successfully manipulate.

Environment scan of generative AI infrastructure for clinical and translational science.

This study reports a comprehensive environmental scan of the generative AI (GenAI) infrastructure in the national network for clinical and translational science across 36 institutions supported by the CTSA Program led by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at the United States. Key findings indicate a diverse range of institutional strategies, with most organizations in the experimental phase of GenAI deployment. The results underscore the need for a more coordinated approach to GenAI governance, emphasizing collaboration among senior leaders, clinicians, information technology staff, and researchers.

Keep bright in the dark: Multimodal emotional effects on donation-based crowdfunding performance and their empathic mechanisms.

How to raise donations effectively, especially in the E-era, has puzzled fundraisers and scientists across various disciplines. Our research focuses on donation-based crowdfunding projects and investigates how the emotional valence expressed verbally (in textual descriptions) and visually (in facial images) in project descriptions affects project performance. Study 1 uses field data (N = 3817), grabs project information and descriptions from a top donation-based crowdfunding platform, computes visual and verbal emotional valence using a deep-learning-based affective computing method and analyses how multimodal emotional valence influences donation outcomes.

This study investigates the perceptions of individuals experiencing mental illness regarding their physical health, utilising a mixed-methods approach. Phase I involved quantitative and qualitative data from an online Qualtrics survey, which included the 12-item Short Form (SF-12) survey to measure participants' quality of life and assess self-reported physical and mental health.

Introduction: Organ preservation (OP) strategies are gaining interest in improving the quality of life in the management of rectal cancer, particularly for tumors located in the distal or middle rectum.
