Unlabelled: Meniscal extrusion (ME), defined as the radial displacement of the meniscal body outside the margins of the tibial plateau, has been seen as an independent and relevant predictor of intra-articular knee degeneration. Nonetheless, available classifications for ME are exclusively quantitative assessments not considering the context in which extrusion is identified. Indeed, ME can be the result of several different conditions spanning from acute tears to chronic degeneration and its definition cannot be only dependent on the numeric calculation of the radial displacement of the meniscal body.

In the last decade, attention has been focused on the pathogenesis and cascade of events leading to the development of fibrosis. Currently, one of the most promising approaches consists in the indirect antagonisation of transforming growth factor beta 1 () through the downregulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS).

This study aims to develop a deep learning (DL) model to predict TKA failure using radiographic images.
Methods: Two patient cohorts who underwent primary TKA were retrospectively collected: one was used for the model development and the other for the external validation.

Purpose: When dealing with the health status of the knee articular surface, the entire osteochondral unit has gained increasing attention, and in particular the subchondral bone, which plays a key role in the integrity of the osteochondral unit. The aim of this article was to discuss the current evidence on the role of the subchondral bone.
Methods: Experts from different geographical regions were involved in performing a review on highly discussed topics about the subchondral bone, ranging from its etiopathogenetic role in joint degeneration processes to its prognostic role in chondral and osteochondral defects, up to treatment strategies to address both the subchondral bone and the articular surface.
Background: Three different histological scores-histopathologic classification (Berden), Renal Risk Score (RRS) and the Mayo Clinic Chronicity Score (MCCS)-for anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated glomerulonephritis (ANCA-GN) were compared to evaluate their association with patient and kidney prognosis of ANCA-GN.
Methods: Patients aged >18 years with at least 1 year of follow-up and biopsy-proven ANCA-GN entered this retrospective study. Renal biopsies were classified according to Berden's classification, RRS and MCCS.

Background: Facial (FP) and genital psoriasis (GP) significantly affect patients' quality of life. Despite the advances in treatments, limited data on efficacy and safety are available on these difficult-to-treat areas. Guselkumab is an interleukin (IL)-23 inhibitor which has been proven effective in treating patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

Background: Recent data indicate that end-of-life management for patients affected by acute decompensated heart failure in cardiac intensive care units is aggressive, with late or no engagement of palliative care teams.
Objective: To assess current palliative care and end-of-life practices in a contemporary Italian multicenter registry of patients with cardiogenic shock due to acute decompensated heart failure.
Methods: A survey-based approach was used to collect data on palliative care and end-of-life management practices.

In the landscape of modern medicine, the ability to accurately diagnose various clinical conditions is paramount. As new diagnostic tools continue to emerge, their accuracy must be rigorously assessed before clinical implementation. This paper introduces a systematic review protocol tailored for diagnostic accuracy studies, drawing inspiration from a review on dysphagia screening in post-stroke patients.

Amongst those responsible for the prevention of ocular diseases, registered nurses certainly play an essential role; however, the literature reports that the awareness/consideration of this type of disease by nurses and nursing students can be improved. It is, therefore, appropriate to carry out educational interventions aimed at increasing consideration/awareness of eye diseases consequences through virtual simulation; moreover, the students' experience during this type of activity still needs to be investigated. Therefore, this study aims to explore the experience of glaucoma and cataract sight virtual simulation among Italian nursing students with a qualitative, multi-centric phenomenological research.

Context: It is unclear whether a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-targeted transperineal (TP) biopsy can improve the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa).
Objective: To compare the MRI-targeted TP and transrectal (TR) approaches for csPCa detection.
Evidence Acquisition: A literature search was conducted using the PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases to identify reports published until February 2023.

Background Little is known about the impact of transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair on changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and the effect of an acute reduction in LVEF on prognosis. We aimed to assess changes in LVEF after transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair for both primary and secondary mitral regurgitation (PMR and SMR, respectively), identify rates and predictors of LVEF reduction, and estimate its impact on prognosis. Methods and Results In this international multicenter registry, patients with both PMR and SMR undergoing transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair were included.

Severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a debilitating disease with a significant impact on the quality of life (QoL). It is typically characterized by a type 2 inflammatory reaction and by comorbidities such as asthma, allergies and NSAID-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (N-ERD). Here, the European Forum for Research and Education in Allergy and Airway diseases discusses practical guidelines for patients on biologic treatment.

Introduction: Aim of the present study was to evaluate the real-world impact of once-weekly (OW) subcutaneous semaglutide on different end-points indicative of metabolic control, cardiovascular risk factors, and beta-cell function in type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Methods: This was a retrospective, observational study conducted in 5 diabetes clinics in Italy. Changes in HbA1c, fasting blood glucose (FBG), body weight, blood pressure, lipid profile, renal function, and beta-cell function (HOMA-B) during 12 months were evaluated.
