Purpose: The study aims to identify differences in tibiofemoral joint morphology between responders (R group, no pain) to arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy (APMM) versus medial postmeniscectomy syndrome patients (MPMS group, recurrent pain at 2 years postmeniscectomy) in a clinically neutrally aligned patient population. The second aim was to build a morphology-based predictive algorithm for response to treatment (RTT) in APMM.
Methods: Two patient groups were identified from a large multicentre database of meniscectomy patients at 2 years of follow-up: the R group included 120 patients with a KOOS pain score > 75, and the MPMS group included 120 patients with a KOOS pain score ≤ 75.

Introduction: Malnutrition and alteration of body composition are early features in pancreatic cancer and appear to be predictors of advanced stages and dismal overall survival. Whether specific patient characteristics measured at the preoperative bioimpedance analysis (BIA) could be associated with long-term outcomes following curative resection has not been yet described.
Methods: In a prospective multicenter study, all histologically proven resected pancreatic cancer patients were included in the analysis.

Dendritic cells (DCs) exhibit a specialized antigen-presenting function and play crucial roles in both innate and adaptive immune responses. Due to their ability to cross-present tumor cell-associated antigens to naïve T cells, DCs are instrumental in the generation of specific T-cell-mediated antitumor effector responses in the control of tumor growth and tumor cell dissemination. Within an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, DC antitumor functions can, however, be severely impaired.

Humans inhale, ingest, and touch thousands of fungi each day. The ubiquity and diversity of the fungal kingdom, reflected by its complex taxonomy, are in sharp contrast with our scarce knowledge about its distribution, pathogenic effects, and effective interventions at the environmental and individual levels. Here, we present an overview of salient features of fungi as permanent players of the human exposome and key determinants of human health, through the lens of fungal allergy and other fungal hypersensitivity reactions.

Background: Although the correlation between tumor size and aggressiveness is clearly established in sporadic nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, the management of tumors ≤2 cm remains debated. In recent guidelines, the cut-off size to operate ranged from 1 to 2 cm. The aim of this retrospective study was to report the rate of lymph nodes metastases in resected sporadic nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, according to tumor size and, second, to identify risk factors of lymph node metastases and disease-free survival.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) of the major and minor ampulla are rare diseases with clinico-pathologic features distinct from non-ampullary-duodenal NENs. However, they have been often combined and the knowledge on prognostic factors specific to ampullary NENs (Amp-NENs) is limited. The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with metastatic potential and patient prognosis in Amp-NENs.

Background: COAPT-trial entry criteria are useful to identify patients with better outcomes after transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER). However, up to one-half of real-world patients with secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) undergoing TEER do not meet these highly selective criteria and no study has formally investigated them. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictors of good outcome after TEER in COAPT-ineligible patients.

Background: Optoelectronic systems and force platforms represent the gold standard for postural sway assessment, but pose disadvantages in terms of equipment, cost and preparation time.
Objective: Wearable inertial measurement units (IMUs) have been proposed to overcome these issues, but have never been compared to an optoelectronic system. The study aim was therefore to investigate agreement between inertial measurement unit and optoelectronic system in postural sway assessment.

Background: Observational comparative effectiveness studies in allergen immunotherapy (AIT) represent an important evidence source answering research questions that can be challenging to obtain from randomized controlled trials (RCTs), such as long-term benefits of AIT, the effects on asthma prevention and the onset of new allergen sensitizations. However, observational studies are prone to several sources of bias, which limit their reliability. The REal Life Evidence AssessmeNt Tool (RELEVANT) was recently developed to assist in quality appraisal of observational comparative research to enable identification of useful nonrandomized studies to be considered within guideline development.

Purpose: Optimal esophageal balloon filling volume (V) depends on the intrathoracic pressure. During Sigh breath delivered by the ventilator machine, esophageal balloon is surrounded by elevated intrathoracic pressure that might require higher filling volume for accurate measure of tidal changes in esophageal pressure (Pes). The primary aim of our investigation was to evaluate and compare V during volume controlled and pressure support breaths vs.

Cancer immunotherapy has witnessed a new renaissance with the advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors, which reactivate T cells and foster endogenous anti-tumor responses. The excellent results of immunotherapy in the field of melanoma, renal cancer, lung cancer, and other cancer types that have traditionally been known to be immunogenic, rekindled the interest of the oncology community in extending the benefits to all cancers including breast cancer (BC). In this review, we highlight the current state of using T cells as both markers for clinical practice and therapeutic options for BC.
