Efficacy and Safety of the Anti-mucosal Addressin Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 Antibody Ontamalimab in Patients with Moderate-to-Severe Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease.

Background And Aims: Ontamalimab is a fully human immunoglobulin G2 monoclonal antibody against mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1, developed as treatment for inflammatory bowel disease.

Methods: Six phase 3, multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials compared efficacy and safety of ontamalimab [25 mg and 75 mg once every 4 weeks] with placebo in patients with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease [two induction studies and one re-randomised maintenance study per condition]. This clinical trial programme was discontinued in 2020 for reasons unrelated to drug safety/efficacy; Crohn's disease studies are described in the Supplementary data.

Connective tissue panniculitis and vitiligo in a patient with stage IV melanoma achieving complete response to dabrafenib and trametinib combination therapy.

The combination of BRAF and MEK inhibitors, such as dabrafenib and trametinib, respectively, is an established treatment option for patients with advanced BRAFV600-mutated melanoma. With the wide adoption of these therapies, a range of cutaneous adverse effects has been reported. We describe the case of a 47-year-old woman with BRAFV600E-mutated stage IV melanoma treated with dabrafenib and trametinib for 30 months who presented to our attention for painful skin lesions that had been present on her limbs since the start of targeted therapy.

Clinical management of patients with thymic epithelial tumors: the recommendations endorsed by the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM).

Effect of intravenous ferric carboxymaltose supplementation in non-anaemic iron deficient patients undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty.

Preoperative anaemia and non-anaemic iron deficiency are independent risk factors for perioperative blood transfusion, morbidity, and mortality. Although the efficacy to treat anaemia with iron infusion before elective surgery has been widely studied, the literature offers few data about the efficacy of treating iron deficient, non-anaemic patients before elective surgery. This retrospective study assessed the effect of preoperative ferric carboxymaltose (FC) administration on the concentration of Haemoglobin (Hb) in iron deficient, non-anaemic individuals following total knee or hip arthroplasty.

PREvention of VENous Thromboembolism in Hemorrhagic Stroke Patients - PREVENTIHS Study: A Randomized Controlled Trial and a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: In this randomized trial, currently utilized standard treatments were compared with enoxaparin for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Methods: Enoxaparin (0.4 mg daily for 10 days) was started after 72 h from the onset of ICH.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors-induced autoimmunity: The impact of gender.

Objective: To evaluate prevalence and clinical features of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in accordance with the gender of treated cancer patients.

Methods: A systematic review of the medical literature was conducted by searching all available clinical data up to December 2019 in several databases using a combination of MESH terms related to immune checkpoint inhibitors, autoimmunity, and gender. Analyzed data were related to all FDA approved ICIs and respective indications in cancer.
