Objectives: To design and validate a feasible simulation to address an identified training gap in the management of intraoperative vitreous loss.
Methods: Our simulation consists of a two-part non-toxic mixture that polymerises upon contact within a silicone training eye, to resemble the appearance of vitreous after staining with triamcinolone. This gel can be cut and aspirated with an anterior vitrectomy probe.

Study Objective: The contribution of emergency medicine clinicians' nontechnical skills in providing safe, high-quality care in the emergency department (ED) is well known. In 2015, the UK Royal College of Emergency Medicine introduced explicit validated descriptors of nontechnical skills needed to function effectively in the ED. A new nontechnical skills assessment tool that provided a score for 12 domains of nontechnical skills and detailed narrative feedback, the Extended Supervised Learning Event (ESLE), was introduced and was mandated as part of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine assessment schedule.

Introduction: Learning from simulation takes place to a large extent in debriefing; however, there is still sparse knowledge about the advantages and disadvantages of debriefing methods. 2 common forms are video-assisted and oral only debriefing. We set out to determine if there is increased knowledge acquisition for candidates undergoing video, rather than oral debriefing.

Simulation-based training as an educational tool for healthcare professionals continues to grow in sophistication, scope, and usage. There have been a number of studies demonstrating the utility of the technique, and it is gaining traction as part of the training curricula for the next generation of cardiologists. In this review, we focus on the recent literature for the efficacy of simulation for practical procedures specific to cardiology, focusing on transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, and electrophysiology.
