Introduction: Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) often causes irreversible visual impairment, making early prevention crucial. This study aims to identify associations between different medications and RVO and provide information for clinical practice.

Method: This study included reports of RVO from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database from the first quarter (Q1) of 2004 to the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of open debridement screw fixation combined with bone grafting, percutaneous screw fixation, and percutaneous screw fixation combined with injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for the treatment of Slade and Dodds Grade III to IV scaphoid nonunion (SNU).

Methods: This retrospective study included patients with Grade III (25 patients) and Grade IV (28 patients) SNU. They were treated with open surgery bone grafting and internal fixation (group A), percutaneous screw fixation (group B) or percutaneous screw fixation and PRP injection (group C) from January 2015 to May 2020.

Objective: The current neurosurgical intervention for treatment of acute epidural hematoma (AEDH) usually involves a craniotomy. Despite its effectiveness, open surgical decompression has several limitations. The twist intraosseous drill needle (TIDN) is considered a feasible alternative in adult patients with AEDH.

Expression of Histone H1 in Rats with Traumatic Brain Injury and the Effect of the NLRP3 Inflammasome Pathway.

World Neurosurg

March 2023

Department of Neurosurgery, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Fujian Medical University, Quanzhou, China. Electronic address:

Objective: To explore expression of histone H1 after traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the effect of the nucleotide-binding domain and leucine-rich repeat protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway on its expression.

Methods: Of 24 rats, 15 were randomly divided into a sham and 4 TBI groups, with 3 rats in each group; the remaining 9 rats were randomly divided into sham group, TBI group, and TBI+CY-09 group, with 3 rats in each group. The expression of histone H1 in rat serum was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; Western blot was used to detect the expression of target protein in the injured brain tissue of rats.

Application of stem cells and exosomes in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage: an update.

Stem Cell Res Ther

June 2022

Department of Neurosurgery, Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital, Center for Neurosurgery, University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany.

Non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage is a highly destructive intracranial disease with high mortality and morbidity rates. The main risk factors for cerebral hemorrhage include hypertension, amyloidosis, vasculitis, drug abuse, coagulation dysfunction, and genetic factors. Clinically, surviving patients with intracerebral hemorrhage exhibit different degrees of neurological deficits after discharge.

Background: A large craniotomy is usually the first choice for removal of traumatic acute subdural hematoma (TASDH). To date, few studies have reported that TASDH could be successfully treated by twist drill craniostomy (TDC) alone or combined with instillation of urokinase. We aimed to define the TDC for the elderly with TASDH and performed literature review.
