Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at sensitized acupoints on choline acetyltransferase positive (ChAT) neurons in dorsal motor nucleus (DMV) of brainstem vagus in the colitis model rats and explore the mechanism of the improvement in colonic inflammatory injury in the rats.
Methods: A total of 79 male SD rats were randomized into five groups, i.e.

Objective: To analyze the core acupoints and compatibility of electroacupuncture (EA) for simple obesity based on complex network technique, and to explore the usage of EA waveform.
Methods: The clinical research literature regarding EA for simple obesity published from January of 1980 to June of 2016 were searched in PubMed, CNKI, , VIP, CBM and TCM online database to establish a prescription database of EA for simple obesity. The Matlab2014a software was used to perform the center analysis and cluster analysis, and the analysis of core points and compatibility were conducted.

Synaptic activity increases the resistance of neurons to diverse apoptotic insults; however, the underlying mechanisms remain less well understood. Zinc promotes cell survival under varied conditions, but the role of synaptically released zinc in the activity-dependent anti-apoptotic effect is unknown. Using cultured hippocampal slices and primary neurons we show that a typical apoptosis inducer-staurosporine (STP) was able to cause concentration-dependent apoptotic cell death in brain slices; Enhanced synaptic activity by bicuculline (Bic)/4-Aminopyridine (AP) treatment effectively prevented neurons from STP-induced cell apoptosis, as indicated by increased cell survival and suppressed caspase-3 activity.

Objective: To explore the anti-inflammatory and analgesia mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) device of point injection (PI) on rats of inflammatory pain.
Methods: 48 Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly assigned into a control group, a model group, an EA+PI group, an EA device of PI (EAPI) group, an EA group and a PI group, eight rats in each one. The rats in the control group were subcutaneously injected with 50 μL of liquid paraffin oil solvent into the dorsum of left hindpaw, while rats in the remaining groups were treated with 50 μL of complete freund's adjuvant (CFA) at identical location to induce the model of inflammatory pain.

Objective: To explore action mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion for Alzheimer's disease (AD) to provide evidence for prevention and treatment with acupuncture and moxibustion on AD in clinic.
Methods: Eighty SPF-grade male Wistar rats, (200 +/- 20) g, were randomly divided into a normal group, a sham-operation group, a model group and a treatment group, 20 cases in each one. The model was duplicated with injection of Abeta1-42 in rats' hippocampus.

The relationship between the state of oxygen metabolism in modern physiology and the concept of meridian qi in Chinese medicine was investigated with the theory of Chinese medicine, biomedicine and experimental medicine for exploring the essence of meridians and meridian qi. The hypothesis concerning the relationship between meridian qi in Chinese medicine and oxygen metabolism in modern medicine proposed by the author was expounded and proved by a series of experiment results and theoretical analysis. According to the knowledge of oxygen metabolism and the theory of meridians and meridian qi, it is held that both qi and oxygen have extreme high similarity in both physiological functions and pathological reactions since both of them have material, functional and informational features.

Objective: To observe the correlation relationship between acupuncture at Dicang (ST 4), Hegu (LI 4) and Houxi (SI 3) on the affected side of peripheral facial paralysis patients and activated areas in brain functional areas and central regulation mechanism of acupuncture at Hegu (LI 4) treatment.
Methods: Eighteen cases with left peripheral facial paralysis were randomly divided into a Hegu group, a Dicang group and a Houxi group, 6 cases in each group. They were treated with electroacupuncture at left Dicang (ST 4), Hegu (LI 4) and Houxi (SI 3), respectively, and were examined with fMRI covering the whole brain at the same time.

Intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid for osteoarthritis is an old and useful method. According to recent literatures, the following four problems were reviewed in this article: 1) Mechanisms. Real-time PCR was used to detect the transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-beta1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) gene expression, which were significantly increased, as well as promoted secretion and synthesis of the tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase, thus the reaction and cartilage destruction were decreased.

Based on ZhangShi YiTong written by ZHANG Lu of Qing dynasty, and the record that external application of Baijiezi (seeds of Brassica Alba) for treating asthma of cold syndrome, retrospective study is conducted to modern literature of treating winter diseases in summer with acupoint sticking therapy for preventing and treating chronic cough and asthma. Learning from thoughts and methods of evidence-based medicine, and according to subject characteristics of TCM and acupuncture, acupoints and point-selecting discipline of prescription for preventing and treating chronic cough and asthma in summer with acupoint sticking are analyzed. The results show that the top ten common acupoints used for acupoint sticking therapy of treating winter diseases in summer are Feishu (BL 13), Dingchuan (EX-B 1), Xinshu (BL 15), Geshu (BL 17), Danzhong (CV 17), Shenshu (BL 23), Gaohuang (BL 43), Dazhui (GV 14), Pishu (BL 20), Tiantu (CV 22), most of which belong to the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang, Conception Vessel and Governor Vessel or extra-meridian points.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture therapy on Parkinson's disease (PD).
Methods: Fifty Wistar rats were randomly divided into a normal group, a sham-operation group, a model group, a Fengfu-Taichong group and a Shuanggu Yitong group. PD model was duplicated by microinjection of 6-Hydroxyl-Dopamine into right corpora striata, and by microinjection of normal saline in sham-operation group.
