Longitudinal evidence of long-term ozone exposure on heart rate variability (HRV, an early indicator of cardiovascular damage) is lacking and the potential mechanism remains largely unclear. Our objectives were to evaluate the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations of ozone exposure with HRV alteration, and the potential roles of protein carbonyl (PC, biomarker of oxidative protein damage) and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 in this association. This repeated-measures prospective study included 4138 participants with 6617 observations from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort.

Ammonia is thought to be a cytotoxin and its increase in the blood impairs cell function. However, whether and how this toxin triggers cell death under pathophysiological conditions remains unclear. Here we show that ammonia induces a distinct form of cell death in effector T cells.

Piperine, a natural amide isolated from the genus of , serves as a pharmacophore in medicinal chemistry. In this study, we synthesised and evaluated 18 novel piperine-acylhydrazone hybrids (-) for their antiproliferative activities . The structures of these hybrids were validated using H,C NMR, and HR-ESI-MS data.

To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) in patients with acute respiratory infection (ARIs) in sentinel hospitals of the Hubei influenza surveillance network from 2016 to 2023. ARIs samples [including influenza-like cases (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI)] were collected from influenza surveillance sentinel hospitals in Hubei Province from 2016 to 2023, and case information was collected. HRSV virus nucleic acid typing was performed by fluorescence quantitative PCR method, and the data were collated, plotted and analyzed.

Despite genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified more than 200 risk loci associated with colorectal cancer (CRC), the causal genes or risk variants within these loci and their biological functions remain not fully revealed. Recently, the genomic locus 19q13.2, with the lead SNP rs1800469 was identified as a crucial CRC risk locus in Asian populations.

Objectives: Although studies have shown that work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are common and continue to be a major source of disability and work time loss, there are few reports about elbow WMSDs. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence and associated factors of elbow WMSDs.
Methods: The valid questionnaires of 57501 workers from 15 different industries nationwide were collected and the c2 test and logistic regression analysis were applied to reveal the prevalence and risk factors of elbow WMSDs.

Echovirus 11 (E11) has gained attention owing to its association with severe neonatal infections. From 2018 to 2023, a surge in severe neonatal cases and fatalities linked to a novel variant of genotype D5 was documented in China, France, and Italy. However, the prevention and control of E11 variants have been hampered by limited background data on the virus circulation and genetic variance.
