The cytoskeleton plays an important role in platinum resistance in ovarian cancer. Tropomodulin 3 (TMOD3) is critical in the development of many tumors, but its role in the drug resistance of ovarian cancer remains unexplored. By analyzing data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) databases, this study compared TMOD3 expression in ovarian cancer and normal tissues, and examined the expression of TMOD3 after platinum treatment in platinum-sensitive and platinum-resistant ovarian cancers.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are implicated in regulating the pathogenesis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Herein, we aimed to investigate how circRNA phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase IIIα (circPI4KA, hsa_circ_0062389) functioned as an oncogene in PTC. CircPI4KA, microRNA-1287-5p (miR-1287-5p) and Neuropilin-2 (NRP2) level detection were completed by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how high blood pressure, especially H-type hypertension, affects the carotid artery's structure and function.
  • Researchers compared two groups of people with hypertension and one healthy group to see differences in their carotid arteries.
  • Results showed that people with H-type hypertension had more significant changes in their carotid arteries compared to those with simple hypertension and healthy individuals.

circZC3HAV1 Regulates TBC1D9 to Affect the Biological Behavior of Colorectal Cancer Cells.

Biomed Res Int

September 2022

Puai Hospital of Huangshi Central Hospital of East Hubei Medical Group, Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Institute of Technology, Huangshi, 435000 Hubei, China.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers all over the world, which accounts for a large proportion of cancer-associated deaths. The regulatory function of circular RNAs (circRNAs) has been affirmed in diverse cancers. circ_0082628, named circRNA zinc finger CCCH-type containing antiviral 1 (circZC3HAV1), has been discovered to be significantly downregulated in CRC tissues.

Ginsenoside (Rg1) has biological effects including anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, neuroprotection and neural function improvement, but with few studies in sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). This study thus evaluated Ginsenoside in alleviating SAE, suppressing oxidative stress (OS) or neuronal apoptosis. SAE mouse model was generated and were assigned into SAE, SAE + LD-Rg1, and SAE + HD-Rg1 groups to measure neural apoptosis by flow cytometry.

One major challenge for application of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nHAP) in nanomedicine is the quantitative detection method. Herein, we exploited one quantitative detection method for nHAP based on the Eu(3+) fluorescent labeling via a simple chemical coprecipitation method. The trace amount of nHAP in cells and tissues can be quantitatively detected on the basis of the fluorescent quantitative determination of Eu(3+) ions in nHAP crystal lattice.

Glutathione-triggered formation of a Fmoc-protected short peptide-based supramolecular hydrogel.

PLoS One

May 2015

State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology, Key Laboratory of Bioactive Materials, Ministry of Education, College of Life Sciences, and Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemical Science and Engineering (Tianjin), Nankai University, Tianjin, P. R. China.

A biocompatible method of glutathione (GSH) catalyzed disulfide bond reduction was used to form Fmoc-short peptide-based supramolecular hydrogels. The hydrogels could form in both buffer solution and cell culture medium containing 10% of Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) within minutes. The hydrogel was characterized by rheology, transmission electron microscopy, and fluorescence emission spectra.

Biomedical Material and Engeneering Center, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan 430070, China.

To establish an experimental model of osteoblasts to easily cause calcification of bone matrix in vitro, we took cranium of a newborn rabbit out under an aseptic condition, removed the connective tissue of the bony suture, and cut the cranium freely into the fragments of not more than 1 mm2. The we isolated and cultured the osteoblasts using tissue explant method. We observed growth status of primary osteoblasts and subcultured osteoblasts using inverted microscope.

Objective: To investigate the expressions of leptin and its receptor in the epididymis of experimental varicocele (EV) rats.

Methods: Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: 4-week EV (n = 12), 8-week EV (n = 12), 4-week control (n = 8), and 8-week control (n = 8). EV models were established by partial ligation of the left renal vein.

Department of Chemical Engineering, Hubei Institute of Technology, 430068 Wuhan.

SERS spectra of p-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) and o-Aminobenzoic Acid (OABA) absorbed on a silver surface, roughened by nitric acid, have been measured with a Renishaw Raman microprobe spectrometer(lambda = 632.8 nm) at different temperature, which ranged from 30 degrees C to -190 degrees C and from -190 degrees C to 30 degrees C. Some reversible changes in some band positions have been observed.
