October 2020

Tongji School of Pharmacy, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 13 Hangkong Road, Wuhan, Hubei, China. Electronic address:

PCs and SMs are the major types of glycerophospholipids and sphingophospholipids, the two main categories of phospholipids (PLs). To study the qualitative distribution of serum phosphatidylcholine (PC) and sphingomyelin (SM) in human and three rodent species, liquid chromatography-Orbitrap mass spectrometry (LC-Orbitrap-MS/MS) was used to identify them comprehensively through the accurate mass measurement of both precursor ions and their corresponding product ions. Based on the fragmentation rules of standards, the product ions at m/z 184.

In the present study, the concentrations of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), and copper (Cu) in 2245 batches of Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) were measured using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS). We developed a risk assessment strategy that assessed the heavy metal-associated health risk of CHMs based on our large dataset. Using a combination of the mean and 95th percentile (P95) values of the chronic daily intake (CDI), hazard quotient (HQ), hazard index (HI), and lifetime cancer risk (CR), the health risks of the average exposure population and the high exposure population were estimated, respectively.

, an important traditional Chinese medicine, possesses remarkable medicinal activities, while lots of adulterants from other species were misused as for its large demand and resource starvation. In order to accurately identify and its common adulterants such as , , , and , a simultaneous identification method was designed with multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) analysis. Five species-specific MLPA probe-couples for and its common adulterants were designed based on the universal primer amplified sequences, which can specifically detect the five species with no mutual interference, and sensitivity analysis showed as less as 5% or 8.

Tumor-targeted delivery of silibinin and IPI-549 synergistically inhibit breast cancer by remodeling the microenvironment.

Int J Pharm

May 2020

School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Sciences, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan 430070, China. Electronic address:

We induced changes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) through the synergistic actions of two drugs used in breast cancer therapy. The anti-fibrotic drug silibinin (SLB) targets tumor-associated fibroblasts and exerts immune-mediated anti-cancer effects. IPI-549, an efficient and highly selective phosphoinositide-3-kinase-gamma (PI3Kγ) inhibitor, was applied to alter the balance of immunosuppressive cells by inhibiting PI3Kγ molecules; it also promotes anti-tumor immunity.

Background: Quantitation analysis and chromatographic fingerprint of multi-components are frequently used to evaluate quality of herbal medicines but fail to reveal activity of the components. It is necessary to develop a rational approach of chromatography coupled with activity detection for quality assessment of herbal medicines.

Methods: An on-line HPLC-ultraviolet detection-2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) free radical scavenging (HPLC-UV-ABTS) method was developed to obtain the chromatographic fingerprints and ABTS inhibition profiles (active fingerprints) of Rehmanniae Radix (Dihuang) and Rehmannia Radix Praeparata (Shu Dihuang).
